i decided to give this game a try. after 20 min, it pretty much bored me to tears. i would have stopped after 10 min but gave it another 10 min to try to sway me to like it. Sad

the intro video (and all subsequent in game videos) is left justified leaving a big hole on the right side if you're playing in 2560x1600 resolution. this game's graphic is on par with playstation 2 level. it's decade old. you think a game with 2012 in the title would have modern graphics. no, it does not. Sad

the controls aren't very responsive for a rts type game. you click to select something with the mouse and it takes a second or so to actually register the selected unit on screen. Sad

ok, i guess it's back to fallout new vegas for me. Smile

Don't think you can drain it.

I can't find some of the missing casualties on the matterhorn (mountain collapsing) mission, do I have to look on the left (gas station) or right side of the river? Ty.

Maybe try to install the prerequisites on the dvd manually, If you use some codecs pack, disable the executable from using ffdshow for its ogv videos (ffdshow configuration -> DirectShow Control -> Don't use ffdshown in: em2012.exe).

Thanks.

Still no luck, I think I cleared everything over there, the dog doesn't seem to find anything on both sides, looked under every accessible rock/tree, removed all burned cars. :/
The only remaining objective is the first one (missing casualties), while the icon "nb of casualties still in the operational area" is set to 0.

Thanks, already done that. Oddly enough, I need to disable NOD32 so I can run the game. But I am having crashes on intro video. Already using latest directx, video drivers.

Edit: Ok solved: the bug in the Matterhorn mission is that you will be stuck ad infinitum if it isn't your dog which "detect" first the casualties under the rocks on the left side.

I disabled the second monitor and it worked fine.

It's not nearly as fun as the previous title though. I prefer "accidents" to "catastrophes".

I agree, not as fun as any of the previous games. They shove you right into some of the worst possible scenarios in this one.Yes its called 2012 for a reason I'm sure but the missions in this are not very fun at all.Hope the LA Mod team does something with it to make it better.

If 2013 can be modded (like Emergency 4 - the best of the series so far), then it might be a very good game.

This is what I was going to say.
I lost interest in 2012 version because I was unable to mod/tweak anything at all and the lack of savegames for freeplay mode, unlike EM4.
As 2013 is 2012dlx
+
• A new scenario: a super volcano threatens Europe
• 4 new missions in Vienna, the Eifel, Sylt and the Vatican
• 1 additional free play map from the volcano scenario
• 4 player online multiplayer mode

I wont hope to much about moddability. Sad

Anyone who got info about this ?

So as you are all too slow, here is my answer :

Quote:
The popular game range of Emergency will be extended with two new titles: Emergency 2013 and Emergency 5.

Emergency 5, the long desired sequel of the classic Emergency 4 is now officially in development. “Modding will be a central element again in Emergency 5, because I know how much our fans like to make their own units and missions”, so Ralph Stock, inventor of the game and Director of the development studios of Sixteen Tons Entertainment. A release date for Emergency 5 has yet to be announced.

Very Happy

So better wait Emergency 5 Exclamation
