I fixed my problem. Like you my game crashed right after starting. I unplugged my second monitor and tried again and it worked.
Edit: Now it crashes when i start the tutorial.

I figured out the game was actually launching on the secondary monitor (turned off TV), and when focused from the taskbar on my main monitor it would crashes... Same problem than kenny64 apparently.

Don't think you can drain it.

I can't find some of the missing casualties on the matterhorn (mountain collapsing) mission, do I have to look on the left (gas station) or right side of the river? Ty.

I run and I get a black screen. Have to ctrl alt del and close process to get back. | Maybe try to install the prerequisites on the dvd manually, If you use some codecs pack, disable the executable from using ffdshow for its ogv videos (ffdshow configuration -> DirectShow Control -> Don't use ffdshown in: em2012.exe).

Still no luck, I think I cleared everything over there, the dog doesn't seem to find anything on both sides, looked under every accessible rock/tree, removed all burned cars. :/
The only remaining objective is the first one (missing casualties), while the icon "nb of casualties still in the operational area" is set to 0.

Thanks, already done that. Oddly enough, I need to disable NOD32 so I can run the game. But I am having crashes on intro video. Already using latest directx, video drivers.

Edit: Ok solved: the bug in the Matterhorn mission is that you will be stuck ad infinitum if it isn't your dog which "detect" first the casualties under the rocks on the left side.

I disabled the second monitor and it worked fine.
It's not nearly as fun as the previous title though. I prefer "accidents" to "catastrophes".

I agree, not as fun as any of the previous games. They shove you right into some of the worst possible scenarios in this one.Yes its called 2012 for a reason I'm sure but the missions in this are not very fun at all.Hope the LA Mod team does something with it to make it better.

If 2013 can be modded (like Emergency 4 - the best of the series so far), then it might be a very good game.
