And what you are talking is utter nonsense. Gothic 2 is definitely the best game of these, probably the best RPG if not best overall game. But G3 has best and most immersive world design of them all, by a mile.

Much of it is not hand crafted, so again, you're clueless.. they used speed tree and other third party programs to generate trees and landscapes, and it shows, its not a coherent art style. The character design was also much better in Gothic2, a big step back in G3..

How had the generic gameworld of Gothic 3 a better design than the handcrafted Gothic 2 world?

Please try to make ase dense, believable and beautiful forests that G3 has, without speedtree.

How many times should one play a game to judge the level design? I finished it once. Does that suffice?

Hmm, maybe talk about Two Worlds II and not Gothic games, don't want this topic closed.
For me it looks better in every aspect to the first game, that should be the reference. How the full game compares to other games is not that fair as the game isn't out until next month.

As long as they fix the rediculously easy combat in TW1 (all you had to do was dodge a monster's attack every 4 seconds and you would never get hit unless it was ranged or mob attacks), then i'll definitely be interested. In TW1, you could survive EVERY SINGLE 1v1 encounter if you could heal all your HP at once, and not be 1 hit KO'd from full health, without ever needing to dodge...(the final boss died in what, 8 seconds, after guzzing alchemy boosts?)
And alchemy stat boosts need to NOT be linear. Increasing your Strength from 400 to 5000 just by downing a bunch of stacked potions you created, or raising your HP from 10,000 to 60,000 by downing a ton of wolf hearts is LOLoverpowered....(yes, I am fully aware you don't HAVE to down them...but then what's the point of looting ingredients and having them ? Not like you're using an exploit or something...) |
Hmm that sounds like you played it before the megapatch, when you still had unlimited stacking? Only place where it felt a bit easy was just before the river and then it was the bamboo forest with scorpions and I had my hands full.
Anyhow, played with sword and don't thing boss was 8s
Something nice, Royal Edition is 81. in top 100 game sales in Amazon. Normal version is 38th, just behind Fallout: New Vegas. |
(now that we're back on topic--(enough Gothic flame wars please),
I played TW with the 1.7 patch, which was supposed to be the latest patch.
I think the stacking you're referring to was based on item combining in alchemy, not how many times you could USE an item, right? I remember a big change to the formula for how items combined, in some earlier megapatch, so you had to combine items the correct way, but no, there was no limit to how high you could buff yourself by USING those items...

Aah, yes the 1.5 patch fix was for combining items/weapons. Don't think I never used many potions on myself, as I'm a little pit of stuff whore. Always saving the best weapons/potions and just using enough to survive. So most of the time I'm somewhere in the end with lots of stuff hardly ever used or weapons already outdated before blood
So hoping they have fixed what you mention for TWII. Freedom is good, but too much freedom can ruin game play balance.

Yes there are programs for landscape generation, and yes there's a program called "speed tree". I doubt you know anything about game development or modelling. I think billboard trees sucks, looks stupid how the leaves turns to always face your direction, not very believable or immersive. Performance wise they are good, that's the only plus. Care to give any screens of your personal work of games/mods?
Example of a tree and grasses i've done, completely without speed tree: http://piclair.com/data/8prag.jpg (the game is Morrowind) it's a fairly low res tree too... its fully possible to create lush forests/swamps, like this: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/35080-1-1286633508.jpg (also trees i've done for Morrowind).
I think G2 did a better job than G3 with the landscape, much more effort was put into the design, more thought.. Sure the trees are low poly and don't look that good, but overall, better. with G3 there's quantity over quality, a big world but imo the design was overall bad and/or just quite incoherent.
All games has certain amount of cut/paste, i doubt TW2 will be either better or worse than most other RPG's.

reads very much like 5 was max. The only minus point i see, is that you're fixed to play a male char.

Yeah, in Multiplayer you can choose a female, but due to the storyline they couldn't add a female choice.

Guys, does anybody know if the Royal Edition is ONLY in German? I mean the stuff that comes with it such as the map, artbook, and manual.
I've heard the manual is GERMAN only, but what about the map and the artbook?

No one is "whining" about the animations. Since when is pointing out the flaws "whining"? I can think it's one of the best games ever created and still comment about the bad animantions or whatnot.

Should be English for the rest. This is the German only: "Handbuch" (i.e. TWII printed guide in German)"
Says artbook on the artbook, so must be English (but I think it's mostly art, not words )

For the map, based on first TW, I bet it is multi language leged:

Order away, I hardly know any German and don't expect there to be much
