Those barely deserve to be called crpg's anyway (jrpg's certainly don't qualify).

Careful, because most old RPGs fall in that category too. Yet I highly doubt that games like Magic Candle, Dragon Wars and Wasteland can be defined as "barely rpgs"

Well seems that Avellone doesn't give a damn about that matter.

I'd give my right arm for a remake or a proper sequel (let's pretend Fountain of Dreams didn't happen). Too bad I'm 99% sure it won't happen.

One could argue those are more like Dungeon Crawlers, which is/was pretty much its own genre. Many of these games didn't even really have text in-game, but instead had you look up in a 'journal' in the game manual. I think the best examples of RPGs are really Planescape, Fallout1&2, Arcanum and the Baldur's Gate series. At any rate, the basis of RPGs was always 'character stats affect how well the player can do certain actions'. That part has diminished greatly over the years, and now we're mostly seeing FPS/TPS games with RPG elements, not RPGs with FPS/TPS elements. Character stats matter far less and player skills matter much more.

Might be a bit early to ask this but does anyone know how the saves will work? I have preordered
the game but it's not out till the 22nd in Europe and to be honest if we do see a release tomorrow I will most likely not keep myself from getting it but it would be nice to be able to keep the saves for when I get to play the legit version

If the game has GFWL which I'm guessing it does (DLC ) it'll probably be exactly the same as F3. |
It doesn´t have GFWL, it has steamworks, meaning if anything, saves will at the least be saved in your "my games" folder and in the steam cloud < see what I did there.

I will give this game a try, but, honestly, the only interesting thing will be the story for me, because let's be honest, f3's combat system was perhaps the dullest "rpg" combat system to ever exist. It sucked as a shooter too.
Still, millions loved it, because they heard if they like it, they'll have instant old school street cred.

Doesn't make it less true though.

Of course it does. You think I played and enjoyed FO3 because of ANY kind of street cred? To label the fans of the game in such a manner is definitely unfair and definitely untrue. Fair enough; I've got one of my own.
Millions hate the game and attack it constantly because they heard that they'll be "cool" if they do, since it's obviously uncool to actually have opinions outside of the "elite" norm.

Wtf does fallout 3 have to do with "old school street cred?" I bet most people who bought it never even played the originals.

The only people trying to get 'instant old school street cred' are those bashing the fans of FO3 with ridiculous generalisations like that one.
I played the original fallouts when they came out and countless old school rpgs yet Fallout 3 is one of my fave games of all time. It had an awesome atmosphere. The combat system was clunky as hell but really thats not what Fallout has ever been about.
