This is the first title on the new MT Framework v2.0 engine and it should provide better visuals/more effects than all previous Capcom games.

http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,775465/Capcom-Next-gen-console-will-have-much-of-its-technology-drawn-from-the-PC-technology/News/

Quote:
We have used MT Framework Version 2.0 for LP2 (Lost Planet 2). Since LP2 uses many technologically advanced features such as complicated backgrounds and 4 player coop mode, we had to update MT Framework to a faster engine in order to accommodate for our needs in developing it.

Quote:
We have prepared high resolution textures for PC which were not implemented in the console version. We have also taken full advantage of DX11 and its features - including subdivision surface, displacement mapping, softbody and interactive fluid surfaces by compute shader and such.

Quote:
In comparison to the prequel, we have added subsurface scattering simulation and lens simulation (Depth of Field) as additional features.

Quote:
As you have mentioned MT Framework is optimised for multi-core. Previously, MT Framework supported up to 8 cores but now in version 2.0 it supports up to 12 cores. In terms of scalability at peak, performance increases up to 80% with 2 cores, 150% with 4 cores and 250% with 8 cores. Threads are used for general tasks, rendering, sound and networks. Using SMT will also improve the general performance between 10 to 20%.

Quote:
We use Havok as a physics simulater in Lost Planet 2. Although we don't make any use of PhysX, MT Framework 2.0 utilises an own GPU (Direct Compute) function. Although only available for DX11, surface effects of Gordiant use softbody and water ripple effects use copute shader.
Considering the current GPU drivers (Nvidia, AMD) don't support deferred contexts, we have had to give up on the idea of multithreading. In terms of visuals there are smooth curbs thanks to subdivision surfacing, displacement mapping in boss battles, interactions with fluid surfaces and softbody simulation. We also make use of high quality shadow filtering using newly added instructions in shader model 5.0.
Corruption in the third CAB file, I think it was 1.9 GB or so so you need to redownload or re-validate the already downloaded data.
(Unsure what you use and what you downloaded though, there's a unpacked disc image via the P2P group and anonymous person who uploaded it and a Trivium disc image version with crack - also available separately on various sites.)

That there is the DX redist data, Setup.exe and altering Setup.ini at the bottom to remove the dependency on those redists might work to bypass it but I don't think so as the data still wants to be copied over.

EDIT: File is 150 MB, it's one of the somewhat smaller CAB files then, most are 1.9 GB but one is 1.0 GB and two are 150~ MB.

EDIT: I'd like to help as I usually try to do but I do not have the image anymore since installation is complete so I can not upload the file, sorry.

Is this worth my bandwidth? I mean, is there at least any hint of complexity? Thinking required? Or is it just another braindead console cover shooter?

Do you like co-op? Do you have (ideally 3) buddies to play it with? If the answer is no, don't download it.

Well, even if you do like co-op, this is certainly not the game to play with your friends, unless you want to lose them... Battle Gauge points are splitted among the party so if someone of you suck and die often, you all will be reseted to beginning; if you reached e.g. 2nd or 3rd episode, your friends can't join if they didn't too; and you need to have friends who can really play concentrated (not while high, not drunk, not just to pass time). In short, co-op in this game is utter crap.

How many chapters are there? I just decided to stop playing for a bit just in case I don't finish up the game in less than an hour. Missions are ultra short, as well as chapters themselves.

It's not twice the size.

As I said before the PS3 version is close to 10GB. So the PC one is 2.5 GB bigger.

But Takeuchi has confirmed it has higher resolution textures. Plus the additional shader files for dx11, help files, GFWL, and other redists, and perhaps DLC (idk if it's included) and there you go.

I want to know if Capcom gave us the "Ultimate" Edition of the game or not. Basically I'm interested in how do Capcom treat their PC ports..?

So if anyone knows if the DLCs are included, please tell us. Smile
