Think I'll start over with my current character; played a bit with the trainer and the indestructable weapons enabled, but that's no fun either. I just wish the weapons would last a bit longer, since they always break at the most inconvenient spots, and finding good replacements isn't that easy.
Terrible luck with finding combo cards/magazines etc. so far as well - you guys just carefully combed through all areas or did you look at spoiler lists?

Make sure to disable the blur, it's the heaviest setting.
You might also disable AA and AF, but other than this there isn't much to do.

Oh yeah sure, I was supposing that he had already lowered those settings, otherwise I'd retire his PC gamer card.

Time limits are there for a reason, sence of urgency while you are surrounded by thousands of zombies, few save points, so hell yeah, start sweating when you are at low hp and your last save was half an hour ago. And be damned if you accidently run into a bossfight.
That's what's the game is all about. If you take away the time limit, the game becomes a lot less exciting. Those who are familiar with DR1 should have no problem at all with this game, DR1 was even worse (survivors were totally helpless without you, and way harder bossfight).
Good game, but shorter than DR1. |
Couldn't agree more. People bitch and moan about how console games are simplified and too easy, but when a real challenge comes along they just cheat their asses off

The timer forces you to manage your time, look for the best routes etc, while the short durability of the weapons forces you to improvise and use some of the weakest weapons you otherwise wouldn't bother to use. So yeah, that makes it alot more challenging/complicated as opposed to simpler/easier with cheats. To me it wouldn't be fun at all to just grind for PP without being really challenged.

That's not complexity, that's just piss-poor programming trying to artificially increase longevity of a six hour game. Capcom even removed infinite mode, which was the only truly non-artificial part of having an indefinite gameplay mode.
*golf clap*
Oh and don't talk to me about "managing time and choosing the best route" when the freakin' COMPASS always points you, in the fastest way, to your next objective.

Of course, it's all subjective. I don't sit there and wail at you for your choices on how you play, do I? I don't claim you're a pompous ass for looking down on others whilst bolstering your own superiority complex, do I? You play the game how you wish to play it, leave others alone to play how they wish.

The game is still gonna be six hours, it's just more challenging. Nothing to do with poor programming at all. It's actually a big appeal of the game, I guess just not to all people.
Yes the absence of infinity mode is disappointing, was kinda looking forward to trying out a few more weapons combos...

they definitely should have gone the red dead redemption/gta approach mission wise here... i hate the constant pressure. I cant really enjoy the bashing of zombies or roaming around cuz i always got that damn clock ticking away. Really destroys and narrows the great open world aspect this game has.

And that's exactly my point, dude. Certain aspects just aren't appealing to everyone. That doesn't mean they're "derps" or any other kind of insult you could sling around, it just means they are different. The ONLY thing that appealed to me about DR1 was the infinite survival mode, not the timed nonsense and certainly not the lame AI when trying to lead survivors back.

Which is why some of us, because I'm surely not the only one, are using the trainer Rewind time by an hour every so often, give us more "time" to explore this huge world they've given us, without having to constantly worry about silly time limits on absolutely everything.

Yeah you wouldn't say that if you had played the games without cheats. Haven't you played the first one at all? The compass doesn't mean shit if you have 4 side missions that are running out of time and have to figure out a way to solve them all.

I just said that I thought it was funny how some people complain about how easy console games are and then cheat as soon as they encounter a challenging game. Wasn't talking about you, although apparently you felt spoken to and resorted to insult me in your first reply. I don't care how you play your game, play Fifa against a team with no goalie for all I care.

Woot, it unlocked 12 hours ahead on Steam. Had to defrag (to unlock the .exe and all I guess) and it said Fragmentation: 122435355% xD

Yeah it's not exactly sandbox, and to be honest the first time I tried DR1 I stopped after less than half an hour because I thought it was badly made and easily frustrating (the survivors were more annoying in 1), but once I got into it and put more thought into my runs around the mall it became alot of fun.
You can still freeroam and explore (which will pay off) as much as you like, just don't save when you're done and you can return to an earlier save and resume the story.
