So i decided to change the vga of my pc which is prety old and im confused about the card choice.
Atm my pc is : DUO e6750 at 2,66ghz (stock)
2gb ram 800mhz
Asus 8800gts 320
Gigabyte GA-n650sli-ds4
power supply 600w
i was thinking of buying Nvidia gtx 260 or smth like that so my question is the card gonna work alright with this kinda old processor and ram and if not whats my best choice of VGA with my current config.

get the Saphire 5770 vapor x, and your hardware is alright if you bring that CPU to 3ghz.

Are you willing to overclock the CPU? If so, just overclock it and you're fine. Games don't care about quadcore CPU's, there's literally only a handful that do. All the others are fine with a 3GHz+ dual core CPU.
As for the videocard: GTX 260 is old and obsolete mate, don't buy one of them
What's your budget?
Good choices atm:
- ATI HD5770 if you're on a budget, these can be found for around 130 euros for the 1GB version
- NVIDIA GTX460 for the best mid-range card, around 180-190 euros at shops that have it in stock
- ATI HD5870 for a higher-end card, around 350 euros - alternatively, get 2 NVIDIA GTX 460's in SLI for 360-380 euros.
- ATI HD5970 for the absolute best single-card performance, around 570 euros
NVIDIA's GTX 465, 470 and 480 all have terrible price-performance compared to ATI's counterparts and even to NVIDIA's own GTX 460. All the cards mentioned above can easily run on that 600W PSU; I'm running a 5870 on a 550W PSU and I'm not even getting half load on the PSU.

Get HD5770 and extra 2gb of ram and that should guarantee a decent performance @ 1680x1050 res

i think its better to get a 5770 which he can use in next rig and save the money for that , might as well buy a 4GB set once he upgrades and needs to buy DDR3 |
Right, totally didn't see the 800Mhz mem :\ my bad

Fine choice mate, just overclock that CPU a little bit, can probably hit 3.0 - 3.2 GHz on stock cooling without any problems

I run everything at max graphics at 1920x1200 hardly ever notice any drop in frame rate ...
[Edit: I can't remember the last time I noticed I couldn't run a game at max at my native rez]

For me to want to do that I'd have to want to play those games, and even if they don't run without a hiccup just means poor design choices on the developers part...
As in polygon count per enemy and how they manage those enemies appear on screen. Any game maker can make the bad guys look awesome by giving them a high polygon count, but not everyone can balance their use of those baddies...
One day which will be never will developers have the resources to create whatever their heart desires without worrying about the end user hardware. Well it certainly isn't going to happen anytime soon...

You do realise that none of those games fully utilise a PC right?
Not even Crysis gets 100% GPU and CPU usage. A title like Metro wastes a lot of resources on PhysX, especially on non-NVIDIA systems because PhysX is such a poorly programmed piece of shit. Out of all those titles, it's probably COP and Crysis that make the best use of the hardware you have, but neither really fully utilises it.

You'll want a 1GB version, besides that brand doesn't really matter. As for the Palit thing, they did remove the heatsink from the VRM's for the sales version, but as far as I know it doesn't actually overheat so.

Yeah, but for Europe their choices to step up to are still limited as hell

XFX are actually my favourite vendor, but they don't offer a step-up program ... which is a crying shame.

Basically EVGA offer you the chance to get one of their later cards/boards by sending your existing one and only paying the difference in price.

That's pretty cool, shame the only choices right now are a 9500gt or a gtx480/470 or a GTS250.
Corsair 750D :: 750W DPS-G:: Asus x370 PRO :: R7 1800X ::16gb DDR4 :: GTX 1070::525gb SSD::Coolermaster 240MM AIO::

Wow, cool ^^
Here you can only get new stuff with the price difference if you get your old stuff broken. And only if it's under warranty...
