I think it might be used to unlock the secret level in the full game or something.

After playing the demo I must say this is one cute title.
Gamplay involves some action and some puzzle solving elements, which requires the player to use multiple characters with different functions in order solve a problem.
Grafix are very functional, crisp and clean. the perfect visual style in order to make the player feels like he's really playing in Lego world ( For example, instead of organs flying all other - things just broken apart into Lego bricks - very cute).
All in all, everyone that once loved Lego (and who doesn't) and SW got to love this nice little title.
Cheers!

@bouvrie yeah the X's were below little hook shaped objects on ledges brisk's picture shows the hooks which are presumably the only points that you can use your grappling hook on - the X's are obviously context sensitive and your grappling hook only works when standing within them.
As for the lifes and the way that you keep on respawning I noticed the way that points kept getting deducted and would have preferred that there was more of a challenge to the game seems that its gonna be the same way as the demo though. Gamespot have commented on the fact that you cant really die in their previews of the game as well thats why I made a point of mentioning that it would be a little easy to complete and that its perhaps aimed more at younger gamers.
Maybe the intention though is that you complete the game and replay with other characters to unlock extras/free play modes.

I agree totally pumbertot.1 - off topic think its been discussed on another thread on these boards and see the same sort of threads popping up all over the place, Brothers in Arms and Star Wars Republic Commando are 2 obvious recent examples way too short and way to easy the only way to get any sort of challenge is to krank them up to hard/realistic difficulty settings from the outset. Soldiers Heroes of WW2 always struck me as a difficult game, I didnt invest a great deal of time in it though.
My point about the star wars lego game is that if you keep on respawning, provided you have the very meagre points needed to respawn which judging by the demo and gamespots preview impressions seemed guaranted your essentially going to be able to play from start to finish on your first go.
I'll reserve judgement though im basing my opinions on a preview written by gamespot and a demo which isnt always the best thing to do and to be honest although this game is fun im much more enthused by the several huge pc releases due sometime this month.
