Ok a couple of things, I cant get anything with subs, because the wife is dyslexic, and while she can keep up with subtitles, she finds herself concentrating on the subs and not the movie.

Right, both my wife and I love horror and ghost stories, so I have spend the morning downloading some that have been listed on "Top Horror (and Top Ghost) Movies" lists.

Anything obvious I have missed ?

Cube = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/ (Never seen it)
Candyman = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103919/ (Saw it years ago and thought it was shite, gonna rewatch)
The Changeling = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080516/ (Keeps popping up on lists, have not seen it myself)
Hatchet = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0422401/
The Hills Have Eyes = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454841/
The hills Have eyes 2 = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800069/
Home Movie = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1267319/ (Popped up on a couple of lists)
The Innocents = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055018/ (Saw it years ago and want to rewatch it after the BBC's god awful version)
The last house of the left = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844708/
Reeker = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393635/
Salems Lot = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079844/
The Signal = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780607/
Fragiles = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0422272/

So anything blatently obvious I may have missed, I suspect I will have seen a lot of them because I do a Horror / Ghost / Slasher download spree every now and again, but it never hurts to ask.

Cheers

Seen the bottom three (and Alien), are the top two dubbed or subbed ?

If it were me I would watch the subbed version, but the wife cant, imdb lists them both as italian.

I keep meaning to get [REC] (and Sequal), Got Let the right on in on the Ps3 just got to get around to watching it (only grabbed it yesterday).

If I enjoy Cube then you would reccomend the sequals ?

I have never fancied The Strangers, I have heard its somewhat atmosperic, I had the screener (or whatever the first decent version that came out was) for ages, but never got around to watching it, will regrab it)

This the version of triangle ? - http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/review/2092 imdb has a shit load listed, but none say horror etc... in the Genre (unless I missed it) (found it, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187064/ , that the right one?)

Cheers for the idea's though, gonna grab some of the subbed ones for when the wife is out Very Happy

I liked 1408 too expecially the DC.

Yea, both Cube Zero and Cube 2 delivers the same as the original IMO

Yes it's from the same director who made Severance and Creep which were both excellent horrorfilms

Great Very Happy Glad Im not the only one who liked 1408, in fact I dont think I've seen the Directors Cut, do you know how different it is to the theatrical cut?

Depends, but as a whole yeah the foreign film industry (especially horror) has been fantastic in the past few years (starting with the asian stuff from over a decade ago), but a few things have come out of America that are decent, the trouble is America seems to think gore = scary, where as other places will use sound, and editing to make something scary, and its shot in a different way some of the time, so its a different style.

I ahve never been a fan of the overuse of gore in horror (thats not to say I dont enjoy a good gory film some of the time, hence the slasher films in my list), but true horror (IMO) is usually built using atmosphere and suspence, not how many decapitations can we fit inside 20 minutes.

I will be grabbing the subbed ones that peak my interest as I will watch them when I have the time, it was one of the reasons I posted this thread rather than continuing to google, so I have something to come back too when I am looking again.

"the signal" its shit its made by 3 different directors who each basicly did a different type of movie out of the same script.

the first part of the movie is pretty fucking good and scary , part 2 is black comedy and just kills the whole film.

if you download it you may aswell turn it off after the first part

watched it last night what a heap of shit and the film has the dumbest characters ive ever seen in a movie.

quite alot of gore but laughable with how the characters are especially the police ones.

i wouldnt even give the movie 1/10 total waste of time i dont see why its aparently such a horrible movie is it just because the woman is pregnant.....

oh noes pregant woman beeing attacked how horrible if she wasnt pregnant the movie would be a total pile of shit
