Awesome! Hope they have some good changes in there. Holding off on finishing my second playthrough until this patch so I can get a good feel for the changes (I'm sure they're going to do some rebalancing).

Anyone knows if theres any mod out there that removes weapon effects like fire, ice, lightning, etc. Only the graphical effects...
I hate it that my heroes with enchanted weapons look like they're walking light bulbs.
Or at least if anyone knows what to mod to change those weapon effects?

He didn't.
The mod does not remove the weapon effects.
Only the (REALLY ANNOYING) buff effects get shortened, so they won't stay visible.
He is looking into the weapon enchantment effects.

Whoops, sorry... Not installed it myself, I thought they were the same thing. I noticed it whilst looking for the essential 'nude' mods.

Have Sten and Leliana in for some of the funniest NPC dialogues in the game.

Well I've really tried to give this game the benefit of the doubt. I loved Mass effect, and KOTOR.. and I do like DAO.
What I really hate and it winds me up something chronic, are the absured difficulty spikes, way too boringly easy against insanely hard within 20 mins of play, fiddley combat and spell casting system, and possibly the worst map navigation system I've played.
I completed Oblvion and Fallout reaching level 30 on Fallout with almost all perks, played and loved Balders Gate, so I do feel qaulified to make some comment about the game.
It's a shame, I'd give this a 7.5 out of 10. It could so easily have been a 9, had it not been so erratic. I like it, but some missions (Fade anyone) and dragons are a not so fun.
Wheres the fun in realising your not quite tooled up enough, and not able to back out of a fight. It ruins the illusion, and is just poor game balancing. If your a die hard gamer, who is a stats junkie, then good for you. If you live in the other half of the human race then thiis game really can frustrate
Oddly I've played the Xbox version, over the last 2 days, and against the PC is insanely easy to play since spell casting seems to attack same target in the party and no friendly fire. Oddly this s more fun to play since the difficulty balance is better. I guess the thinking is the PC offers finer control. If only this were true in practice.

It just seems You have problems playing the game as it was supposed to be played (meaning: before the console versions were even in plans), if You say that no friendly fire and easier difficulty makes it more fun to You. This is not meant as a flame btw, just stating what i see as a fact.
I've almost completed the game two times now, and i've had none of those "difficulty spikes" You write of in either of those playthroughs. Yes, some fights were a bit thougher, but that's how games are supposed to be. DAO was meant to be challenging, it was meant to be a game for PC players who wanted challenge and complicacy. And it is all that, for me. The difficulty is spot on. Even a bit too easy at times, but usually just spot on, ideally matched to make winning a fight an acomplishment, not a boring chore.
In short: It's not DAO that's too hard, it's Mass Effect, Kotor (i won't even mention fallout 3 and Oblivion) that were far too easy.
Oblivion and Fallout 3 have almost nothing in common with this game btw, so mentioning them is kinda pointless.

I'm pointing out the massive difference that can oocur in difficulty from one moment to the next.
Honestly I found long sections of it really tedious since there was no challange at all, then suddenly pow, your whole party gets slaughtered in a mob rush, since I wasn't really paying full attention due to the general tedium.
Looking at online reviews it does seem I'm not the only one to mention this. I reckon DAO is Balders Gates natural succesor, and that game is superb, and don't forget Fallout 3 was voted Game of the Year for a reason, which I suspect DAO won't since it falls short on the points I've raised.
Still each to there own... and may be your right, I've become soft in 25 years of adult gameplay, and should knuckle down and treat this game as a serious tactical workout. Joy!

Brilliant.
About difficulty... it is real RPG not Oblivon-whole-world-lvling-with-me-idiotic-idea-game.
It is hard in this place, it means you wondered there in wrong time. Go look for other area, lvl up, gear up and go back.
LoLblivion was so idiotic... at the moment I've put glass armor on me, every single stupid enemy NPC in the game got one like this. Give me a break. It is so stupid, it is not rewarding.
I every normal RPG when you were low lvl and in leather armor, you were going somewhere else, gaining lvl and cash, buying some bad ass full plate and going back to kick some ass.
That feeling... you, alone, killing hordes of poor goblins or something like that.
What''s the point on lvling and such, when everyone else around is doing the same.
It is better in lolblivion to stick to lvl1 and finish whole game.

I thought the game was hard too when I had some trouble on my first playthrough on easy but on my 2nd playthrough playing on hard with only one mage..well..I got the achievement for getting past landsmeet without my character ever falling in battle so yeah, it gets much easier when you know what you're doing.

It's not like it could be hard all the time. THEN it would become tedious. Some fights are meant to be a challenge, some are just a work-out, for fun.
Anyways, it's not like the game can be liked by everyone, different people, different tastes after all.
As far as GOTY goes, i believe DAO is a favourite. Just look into Goty topic on this board, the title is mentioned every second post (or more). Even if it's not GOTY, it doesn't mean much. Fallout 3 fell short on much more important points then DAO, as far as i'm concerned, and it did get GOTY. Points like story. Characters. Combat. Hell, it fell short on everything besides exploration, atmosphere and graphics. Same goes for Oblivion, except characters and story were even worse then.
Hell, if Borderlands is qualified to be RPG of the year for some sites (and people), it pretty much shows what GOTY means today.

Baldur's Gate 2 was even more spiky, if You call it that way. Typical encounters required no attention at all, enemies could be killed with one or two spells or simple auto-attack, yet fights like Kangaxx or the lich in the bridge district were insanly hard, almost unbeteable unless you knew a correct strategy.
And it's a party RPG, every character needs help. My second character is a rogue (dual- wield swords, assassin, duelist) and he's a real terror on the battlefield. Fells some enemies so fast he almost eliminates the need of extensive crowd control.

yeah ok, don't get me wrong, there's a lot about DOA I really like, it is compelling, good story telling, and fun to play, just occasionaly gets me really grinding my teeth due to ocaasional gameplay imbalance, which when you've been playing for a whole heap of hours can get you feeling a bit steamned, more so than any game I've played for a long time.
But hey may be this is a good thing, and it's just me not rising to the challange

I really hope they fix that damn memory leak. I am almost at the end of my first play through and the game is lagging even with all the graphics turn down. My computer isn't a beast but it handles this game on High settings until the memory leak comes.
