You can just walk past that "dragon" in the elven ruins, tis what I did. Took his treasure, carried on with the story. Came back a few levels later when I could actually tackle it.

I seem to have a very different opinion about the loot argument than both sides of the fence.
While I do not believe that you should get great loot from chests commonly I do believe that high level chests should contain or have a higher chance of containing good loot. The loot should also be factored in on where you are getting these items as well. A poor commoners house should not give equal or better loot to a house of a noble. Also when questing on certain quests it should have chests that give great items for example after slaying a dragon.
While I also believe that the dragon should not drop a single item (other than its scale of course) Why do games continue this illogical trend of non humanoids dropping human gear or money? This simply should not be. Humanoids should be the only types to drop such items and bosses naturally caring superior items as well as the chests that personally belonged to the boss in the area should contain better items but nothing that exceed what he/she uses in combat personally. Currency and items that one would want to keep safe should be more in chests than on hand as well when dealing with humanoids. But when to take into account of monster types such as dragons the loot they have should be scattered on the corpses of their victims or in storage such as chests (not put there by the dragon obviously so it pre-dates the dragons arrival to the area) Heres a quick example.
Your exploring the ancient ruins of the long forgotten order of the 12 magi lords.
You run into a ancient dragon whom served as a trained guard to the collected treasures of the magi lords. You slay it (and get nothing but experience from the battle)
proceed into the treasure room and collect the legendary staff of the Elven Goddess Ertha.
This is how is should work.
Now as far as the voice of the protagonist goes in this game I actually wish he/she was 100% mute other than perhaps screams and such. Why? #1 it forces people to read and that is a damn good thing. #2 What if you hated the voice that was given? Then your just fucked aren't you? #3 Its actually MORE role playing by having a mute character as you can make up a voice just how you like it in your own head and play such in your mind as you read the dialogue choices you picked . It's what I do.

Sounds like you never realized that Neverwinter Nights did the same thing. They let you select your characters voice but it was only used when you were committing actions.

If they fixed the growing loading times and memory leaks that would be nice.

Playing my rogue on nightmare is turning out to be pretty easy I've banned offensive spells and I only use Morrigan to heal and buff. Started out quite tough, but once I got some levels and tweaked my tactics I'm facerolling most fights. No cheesing with stealth or anything like that.
Spoiler: | Even 2 manned Flemeth. Morrigan was my only healer and couldn't come and I killed Wynne when I met her... thought it'd be impossible, sten and dog took an early bath but I managed to keep Oghren tanking by chugging pots. Damage was more than enough.
Brood Mother was fairly.. aukward, relying only on melee damage, a lot of micromanaging but only took a couple of retries.
Didn't break a sweat in the Battle of Redcliffe.
Starting to think a 'solo' game is the only way to get a real challenge. Shame I don't think I could really stomach another play through. Epic game, but 2 play throughs is enough for me.

Cool new items! only $10!
If I wasn't a cynical bastard, I'd be visiting in hope of some quality content.

Thanks man, been waiting to hear this one! Hope he covers the PC edition (lol, yeah right).
Can't wait to see what this announcement tomorrow is going to be. Hoping they'll say, "Sales have been spectacular, we're rolling in money -- as a 'thank you' we're giving out this brand new, epic DLC that will blow your mind for FREE!"
Hey, I can dream.

WTF is wrong with this game? Spoiler RE: the landsmeet:
Spoiler: |
During the landsmeet, I get 6 votes compared to Loghains piddly 2 votes and somehow Loghain wins the landsmeet? WTF kind of math is that? |

Spoiler: | hmm.. he didn't actually win I think, it was more of a tie. maybe the decision needs to be unanimous or something so as long as there are votes for both sides, there's no resolution of the conflict, so fighting starts instead :-)
you're trying to avoid civil war using the landsmeet so it would make sense. as long as there are votes for both sides, civil war is inevitable. |
at least that's the only explanation I can think of. I was confused by this as well.

I had one guy vote against me no matter what choices I took but I won that meeting regardless, perhaps some "parties" have different value and importance?

I replayed that scene a couple of times, wondering what the outcome would be depending on how you answer his questions ...
Spoiler: | and it turns out asking HIM about certain things influences the public opinion. With a majority vote, he loses. With a tie vote, he attacks you. If you win, either by public opinion or because he attacks you, you get to fight. Beat him and decide his fate, but be warned; if he joins you as a Warden, Alistair leaves for ever.
ALSO!! Choosing WHO fights Loghain influences the ending too. I originally had Alistair fight him, as you do, and when Alistair executed him - the queen refused to be part of the marriage agreement, so you're forced to either kill her too - or jail her I wanted the "best of best" outcomes, so I got the Landsmeet to side with us and then I fought Loghain myself, executing him for his crimes. Alistair and the queen married and everyone was happy

Spoiler: |
As a female you can rule with Alistair from what I've read, unsure if you can rule as a king with the princess by taking Alistairs place as a male though.
(This works much better if Alistair is toughened up during his personal quest by saying that "Everyone is out for themselves, learn this" or something like that and not apologizing afterwards, same can be done for Leliana apparently and then you can find Isabel before she leaves and somehow get a foursome/threesome as a bonus depending on the outcome.)
(I didn't really get much at all, said to the madame to surprise me and ended up with two "nugs", asking for other things also landed me with a "female" which was a bit different from a normal female so to speak.)

I enjoyed Yahtzee's review of Dragon Age, had a few laughs watching it. He needs to do Borderlands already (unless he already has and I somehow missed it).

Do I really have to take Oghren (when he first appears) into the Deep Roads with me? I much prefer Sten.
