This is from a guy from my site, kind of good news for those who got wrongfully banned
UPDATE ON MY BANNED LEGIT/UNMODDED CONSOLE
Got mine back today after they banned my legit console (and I sent it in),
They have apologised repeatedly and given me :
5000 m$p, a new controller, 3 reasonably new games, and 1 years subscription to xbox live.
(Oh and a new/refurb console luckily dated June 09 ... but I am returning it to them to have mine sent back to me ...
I want my new one back, not some shitty refurb bullshit)

Mmm wrongfully banned ehh... how can they make an error? does this mean their detection methods are not 100% or they just banned the wrong console?

Either guy is making it up or they just made a human error. When you have to ban 1 million pirates shit can happen.

Guy is not making it up, he was a staff on my site and what he said is true. Lot of poeple got banned on unmodded console. Poeple who played legit Forza early on unmodded 360 got banned also

If they damage your console - because banning it and disabling the HDD install is in fact illegal damage of property - because of using backups they commit a tort. It is your console, you bought it and the microsoft fuckers have no right to do ANYTHING with it without your consent.

No, there isn't. There is one "half safe" way. If you remove hdd and do connectivity test and find that you are banned your console will lose install features but your hdd won't be corrupt and you can move it to another console. That's about it.

Live is just a service MS provides. MS can cancel this service for anyone who doesn't play by their rules. Your games still work fine and your hardware is intact.
HDD install is an added feature, MS added it in one of their updates and they can just disable it for everyone in the next update if they feel so.Your games still work fine without it and your hardware is intact.

I can't imagine the majorities of those folks who were banned really care all that much. I can't even remember the last time I went online with my console. Borderlands, and that's about it. I mean I guess if you were REALLY looking forward to playing Modern Warfare 2. Other than that, really was it that much of a blow?

No kidding. In any case I'm thinking of the games that are coming out, and not a single one has a MP component that will have me running to find a non-banned modded console.

MS can detect modified firmwares again..this is whats happening. I know a few guys that modded their box..and let it sit for a while to see if it would get banned and they did..both of them with never having played a backup
I was saying this before that the new update was gonna add some sort of new firmware detection and a few people called me an idiot for even suggesting something like that..well as you see..its true and xboxscene will be making an announcement on this soon on their front news page, mark my words

This is what i do. I am an Xbox Live checks manager and I am the guy who helps run through the data being sent to Xbox Live that has been flagged for banning and was also discussed a very long time ago of what will "bring down all modified Xboxs"
I myself have an Cbox that has been modified because i think it is a crime what they do charging so much when the games don't even cost Microsoft half of what they are getting. Anyway, we have found a way to read the firmware. The NXE update has allowed us to do a check on the current firmware installed on the dvd drive.
The reason this was not flagged was because the code was not active. As you might have heard it was discussed about a "self destruct" code embedded in the NXE update and even before that. This was that code it wasn't a self destruct code but actually a check that was done on all drives.
This check was begun when the update was to "prepare for the last.fm facebook and twitter" this in fact was the code sent out to begin checks on ALL Xboxs.
These checks would send us information on the firmware written to the drive not the exact kind but we did an extensive form of hash check on the drive and could actually find out if it was modified in any way.
This was particularly easy on the lite-on as it was actually manufactured to serve for this purpose as our testing model.
We will not ban all consoles at once and yes all information about you has been collected a long time ago.
We have THOUSANDS of Xboxs reporting bad checks meaning modified firmware. Not all people will be banned and all the bans are done at random times
Multiple checks have been done over this amount of time so we could assure the modified Xboxs were truly modified and not just returning corrupt data.
I am sorry i did not com forward with this information sooner but this information has been critical to the cat and mouse game
This check was also done back in the xtreme days if anyone remembers that when c4eva had to rewrite it to allow the checks to come back clean well this must be done again.
Sorry all for the bannings but it is a natural process and I wish you all luck and hope you do not get banned

well, there are lots of bannings since the end of October...
today my 2nd box was banned - it's 6 monthes old, NEVER went online (and when i say NEVER i mean NEVER), always played abgx360.net verified releases....fuck you M$...
this just proves no one really knows how MS detects things...
