I had a problem with walking through a doorway and being teleported to the floor above, fixed it by walking through the door backwards.

That happened to me twice @ Nelson's (the map maker) top floor room. I tried to walk out of the room and found myself on the rooftop Laughing

Then went back in and it happened again. Then I tried it for a 3rd time, but I was careful not to go close to any walls. Seems to be a clipping problem.

there is a reason why the doors and switches on the map are color coded. btw, you can press all switches multiple times.

yep u can shoot that switch with a bow ( u have to be very precise tho ) But it wont get u anywhere. That room does not lead anywhere. U have to press that switch in the big room multiple times to open multiple doors. Anyway im at this part now too. I pulled the 2 big levers to open the rock door but now theres still a gate. How do i open this gate?

See the crossroads after the initial lake?

Should be right between the harbor city, swamp hideout and monastery.

Head up the little path and you'll be greeted by a novice, talk to him a bit and explore the temple if you want to and then head past the farm and avoid the novices and order soldiers there (They're hostile initially unless you've proven yourself.) and finally reach the chapel, talk to the guard and you'll get "recruited" and can join the monastery order after training.
 Spoiler:

EDIT: Oh and be careful in the monastery, it's a bit buggy as you can kill of very important characters without the others recognizing that and it's possible to bug quests and get stuck if you do them in the wrong order.

I actually feel bad for the developers of RPG's... they are very complicated to make and its not really possible to find out all the errors since there are like 100's of decisions and items.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Of course, in terms of bugs Risen does pretty well, Oblivion had like a 1000 or so issues fixed by the community and there's several hundred fixed in Fallout 3 by the same author, NWN 2 got patched again a couple of months ago and it took a ton of patches for Two Worlds to shapen up.

Gothic 3 got a lot of problems due to being a bit rushed though even so the game was simply to big for the developers so it got kinda incomplete though the community patch has mostly put it together as of the latest version.

Risen with it's smaller world and more focused content (Or how to say it.) thus gets pretty well tested and has worked without any major issues aside from the few things mentioned. Smile
(A patch is being worked on and a hotfix is being prepared for the problems with the 7xxx NVIDIA serie cards, same with the somewhat lackluster Xbox versions graphics though console porting was supposedly handled by a different studio.)

EDIT: Initially Gothic 2 also had a few problems though it was totally revamped by it's expansion and became quite a good game.
(Gothic 1 only had a few smaller patches from what I know.)

Hmm I seem to have done the quest in a different order so some things might have triggered in a different way as I don't remember any Lukor, will have to check this.

EDIT: Seems I mixed things up.
 Spoiler:

EDIT: Spawn Lukor could work from the console.
(Minsky typed quickly when in the actual game to enable it and the "test" or debug mode.)

Well Dragon Age is the next CRPG due to get released, but arguably it has quite a few differences when compared to Risen... But if you aren't averse to older graphics (of course there's some great recent ones as well, like The Witcher), there's a wealth of RPG classics out there for you to play!

Clicking them will equip them (you can wear two at once)... Press C and you'll see your character paper doll and what you're wearing.

I've finished the game. Here are my impressions:

Even with it's problems, Risen is one of the best RPGs I've played since 2002! I bought the game on Steam and I can hardly wait for Risen II.

Too many world triggers there were... I mean in G3. U did 1 thing here and too many AI triggers. Smaller worlds, less factions / groups / towns... much easier to script and oversee situations.

Finished the game today.. have to say it ended pretty abruptly. Last chapter was kind of lame... I look forward to the expansion though. Game was definitely what Gothic 3 should have been like...I bought Gothic 3 and swore I wouldn't pay any more for their games, but this one changed my mind. I still think Gothic 2 had better, more responsive combat though. For me it was hard getting the character to do that quick parry of the opponents attack, there is just too much input lag for that maneuver.

What did they do to the engine that stopped the constant stuttering of Gothic 3? Perhaps it is the smaller world.

You have to show him the lizard sword first (blacksmith in harbor town) that will trigger obsidian swords.
