yep u can shoot that switch with a bow ( u have to be very precise tho ) But it wont get u anywhere. That room does not lead anywhere. U have to press that switch in the big room multiple times to open multiple doors. Anyway im at this part now too. I pulled the 2 big levers to open the rock door but now theres still a gate. How do i open this gate?

Spoiler: | If i fail the "Peace and Order" task for the monastery's trust (by completing the 4 tasks required for the don instead), will I not be able to become a magician in the game. How do I join the monastery if i fail thtat task?? I wan't to make a wel- rounded character with magic and fighting skills so I don;'t wanna be stuck with the bandits for the rest of the game.
Also, where is the evidence to convict Cid, or where can I find Doyle? I Spoke to the fisherman guy and told me doyle went into hiding, I'm not sure what to do? |

See the crossroads after the initial lake?
Should be right between the harbor city, swamp hideout and monastery.
Head up the little path and you'll be greeted by a novice, talk to him a bit and explore the temple if you want to and then head past the farm and avoid the novices and order soldiers there (They're hostile initially unless you've proven yourself.) and finally reach the chapel, talk to the guard and you'll get "recruited" and can join the monastery order after training.
Spoiler: |
Or you can go pro-order in the harbor village and get admitted directly without training and other requirements.
|
EDIT: Oh and be careful in the monastery, it's a bit buggy as you can kill of very important characters without the others recognizing that and it's possible to bug quests and get stuck if you do them in the wrong order.

I actually feel bad for the developers of RPG's... they are very complicated to make and its not really possible to find out all the errors since there are like 100's of decisions and items.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Spoiler: | I've done all the talking already. How do I get rid of Lukor? He's the last one left to help out/turn in. I Killed the warehouse leader guy earlier to try my gold plates back. (Seems to have been a bug of some sort that he had them because I never gave them to him. He just said he had them and wasn't giving them back when I spoke to him) I think killing him might have been potentially quest-breaking. Is there any way to spawn him thru the console? |
Also,

Hmm I seem to have done the quest in a different order so some things might have triggered in a different way as I don't remember any Lukor, will have to check this.
EDIT: Seems I mixed things up.
Spoiler: |
if Lukor was the warehouse guard then you need him to complete the quest for the Order side but you only need four completed missions and there's six or so all in all so one miss doesn't hinder you.
Are you sure you actually killed him though by finishing him when he was down?
(It's a bit easier than the other Gothic games so accidentally killing someone permanently is easily done if you are in a larger fight.)
|
EDIT: Spawn Lukor could work from the console.
(Minsky typed quickly when in the actual game to enable it and the "test" or debug mode.)

Spoiler: | In one of the rooms (don't remember which, but it's one of the ones opened with the button pushed multiple times) you'll see a crack in the wall showing a winch below, across the ravine; shoot it with a ranged weapon, then head back around and cross the bridge - you should find the final winch in there. |

Well Dragon Age is the next CRPG due to get released, but arguably it has quite a few differences when compared to Risen... But if you aren't averse to older graphics (of course there's some great recent ones as well, like The Witcher), there's a wealth of RPG classics out there for you to play!

Clicking them will equip them (you can wear two at once)... Press C and you'll see your character paper doll and what you're wearing.

I've finished the game. Here are my impressions:
Spoiler: |
The Good
- The unique tropical island setting.
- Design of the monsters.
- Some effects such as water, lightning, climatic effects.
- Gameplay in Chapters I and II (quests, interactivity, immersion, situations, etc).
- The combat system is much better than in Gothic games.
- The voice acting is much better too.
- The new features: crystal magic system, scroll making, deadly traps inside the dungeons, etc.
- Monster AI, specially how they works together as a team. They have special abilities and even sleep at night.
The Bad
- The character models are ugly. Also, there're some equipment clipping and extremally bad animations.
- The soundtrack is very weak. The main theme is a Fallout 3 ripoff, and the rest of the themes I can't even remember.
- Gameplay in Chapters III and IV - the game became so uninteresting, totally combat-focused. There were no new towns, NPCs, quests, nothing.
- It doesn't matter if you are a mage, warrior, thief, monk, you MUST wear the Titan Armor and use Hammer+Shield in the end. What's the point in being a mage or anything else besides a Warrior - Axe+Shield if you'll have to use the same equipment in Chapter IV? This ruined the replay for me.
|
Even with it's problems, Risen is one of the best RPGs I've played since 2002! I bought the game on Steam and I can hardly wait for Risen II.

Too many world triggers there were... I mean in G3. U did 1 thing here and too many AI triggers. Smaller worlds, less factions / groups / towns... much easier to script and oversee situations.

Finished the game today.. have to say it ended pretty abruptly. Last chapter was kind of lame... I look forward to the expansion though. Game was definitely what Gothic 3 should have been like...I bought Gothic 3 and swore I wouldn't pay any more for their games, but this one changed my mind. I still think Gothic 2 had better, more responsive combat though. For me it was hard getting the character to do that quick parry of the opponents attack, there is just too much input lag for that maneuver.
What did they do to the engine that stopped the constant stuttering of Gothic 3? Perhaps it is the smaller world.

Well, thanks to the bug I had (wrote about it earlier in this thread) I pretty much completed all quests in the game except one. Would be nice if someone could explain what happened:
Spoiler: |
Petty (the daughter of...) joined me on our way to the cave behind the waterfalls on the west coast. However when we got there she decided to wait outside and not come with me and eventually when I picked up the titan armor piece I got a message that the quest "have fun with petty or something " got canceled. What happened?

| huh? You should have reloaded, that quest is over as soon as you reach the waterfall not the cave.
