Quote: | 30 hours and done? That's too bad. One thing gothic 3 had was a massive landmass. Maybe in the sequel they could bring people to the mainland and really lengthen it out. |
Spoiler: | You do realize there is no mainland anymore as the Titans destroyed it? This island is the only one left that isn't burning(yet). |

Also, Mussolinka, you should think a bit more about not spoiling the shit out of the game for everyone else. Bravo.

Spoiler: | There's nothing interesting in there, just a chest and a bookstand, if I remember right. You need a "destroy magic barrier" scrool, or something. You'll get it from Cyrus, at the lizard temple (the druid quest). |
P.S. Spoiler: | Anyone did the part where the monastery is invaded by lizard intruders? I can't find one of the wizards, I think it's the one that used to stay at the gate, can't remember the name. I looked everywhere for him... |

I'm not debating your choice Epsilon or arguing with you but wasn't that ban a bit harsh for what is essentially shown during the introduction movie?
(Unless I interpreted the intro movie and story description wrong.)
Spoiler: |
Those are ley lines aren't they, not hard to imagine what such a impact would cause on the landmass.
|
EDIT: Actually it's even in the manual.

What am I doing wrong here? Pretty much everything I encounter takes dozens of hits to kill, while I keep getting 3-shot. That includes plot-related fights where the game is simply stuck 'till I clear the fight so this can't be an issue of me running into content meant for higher levels.
For example, Spoiler: | Aric at the monastery | I've leveled staff skill to 4 or 5 or whatever the level is so you can stand close and "nudge" them with mouse button 2. The only way to ever beat him was to abuse the nudge so he never got the chance to do anything. Trying anything else would result in me getting a few hits in worth 0.x% of his life each, while he chops me for 30% of mine. I tried leveling strength a LOT but it did jack-all to my damage, nor did upgrading my weapon really.
The combat seems awfully broken to me. I can't believe nobody in QA brought this up.
Oh and how do I get in the room behind the crystal or the force field? If I just need to advance plot, say no more, but if I'm missing something...

Spoiler: | Wait till you meet the lizard people. You'll throw the keyboard out the window, that's how bad they are.
As for the force field, read my post above. |

Spoiler: | Does it show that in the movie? all those blue lines? is that supposed to depict the landmass dissappearing?, I thought it was to show the dark energy that was unleashed and "woke stuff up" in various parts of the world. |
Most people here haven't bothered to read the manual, regardless what it says is this
Quote: |
Only a few enclaves of humanity have so far escaped the disaster. The
volcanic island that you washed up on following your shipwreck is one
of them. For an unknown force seems to be safeguarding the isle from the
worst. However its protection is growing weaker... |
It doesn't say whats happened with the world, just that some have escaped disaster, theres no specifics.
I find it to be open to interpretation.

Healh is increased by leveling up, strength affects melee damage and what melee weapons you can use while dexterity affects the same but for ranged weapons.
Wisdom is part of what magic skills and abilities (Depending on mage type, crystal, rune or scroll, though scrolls require nothing unless you do them yourself.) and needs alternative ways to train, mana also needs to be increased in some way by a trainer.
For staff fighting specifically you have the range but the weapon is very weak a good staff is on par with a mid-end blade or cheap axe from what I've noticed so far but it's faster though if possible you should soften up with magic first to counter the low damage of the staff unless it becomes really powerful once leveled up.
(Doubt it, swords and axes mainly improve combination possibilities plus some welcome extras so it's probably the same for staves, bow and crossbow seem to be only speed related unfortuantely.)
Anyway level up by exploring and earn health and level up magic and staff skills further.
EDIT: Epsilon yeah you are right it is open to interprention, I guess I just saw things a bit differently.
Spoiler: |
Kinda mentioned above but I saw the magic lines as following the "earth" ley-lines, if those are affected by such a severe blow as that impact then I can imagine there wouldn't be much left of the main continents and mainly smaller islands, just how I interpreted it, magic is believed amongst some cultures to flow along such lines so I simply put it together as a sort of "armageddon" event.
EDIT: Plus you see the world rip and tear as those temples ascend from the earth though it doesn't show in what scale this happens so again it's down to user interprention of the story, just as the backstory for "nameless" is, as is very common in Piranha Bytes games or rather the Gothic series.
|
EDIT: Come to think of it the intro is similar to Ultima IX: Ascension.
(One of the earliest open-ended - kinda - RPG's I've played.)

Fred is the best thing happened to me in the game so far. Without him I'd be lost, he's so handy
Now, I'm level 11 and only been visiting the Don so far, no monastery or the town. I don't want to loose Fred, so, if I go to either of them will he disappear or pick up a fight or whatever?
I'd rather adventure with him some more, rather than do some quests if it means loosing him.

So can you not learn seals if you follow the Don?
I've got all these runes, and blank parchments are too fucking rare to be wasting.
And Fred will accompany you until he dies. He won't follow in some places, like the Monastery, but he will be waiting when you leave.
I've had my Fred for 2 days and a ton of levels. Handy for tanking ashbeasts while I power attack from behind.

I cannot find master Abrax for the life of me. Does anybody know where he is? Been looking in his "study", but he's not there?
