Within six days is a bit of a stretch, if they are really optimizing it'll mean they'll just send the gold master disc six days later.
(PC version does have some extra stuff like DX10 but of course the developers and publishers want their products to sell and if that can be done by delaying the PC edition thus lowering piracy a bit then that's what they'll do.)
Nah, Gold master is already in factories being pressed.
You guys forget about 0-day patch ?^^ Thought that was normal these days

In that case it's even worse, they're artificially holding off on the release all for the sake of a fucking patch, gone are the days it seems when gold means gold.
Not really related, well it is in a way, since we're talking about evil businesses and their dealings.

Citing information from traders, a Reuters report said there was "unsubstantiated talk" that Microsoft is interested in buying the publisher of the Madden, Medal of Honor and FIFA series.
Shares of EA jumped 97 cents, or 5.24%, to $19.49 on the news, outpacing the Nasdaq, which grew 0.19%.
Although merely a rumor, an acquisition would boost Microsoft's presence in the video game space.
No idea what ISP he's using, but what other reason is there to ban an IP but not his account?
Maybe he's made multiple accounts on that IP, and they didn't like that.
I really don't believe they'd ban this particular ISP, that would be like saying " we don't want 70% of the internet users in scandinavia browsing our forums."
And since Scandinavia isn't known for it's trojans viruses, phishing and other kinds of internet malevolence, except piracy, it's just highly unlikely they'd ip range ban.
XIII is still looking good and is very much playable, a good sign I suppose for cell-shade. Although it fits that game because it was made after a comic book and the whole game was made like that (you see 'tap' when someone is walking, 'blam' when shooting, 'kaboom' when you blow a truck up )
Well, cheers to piracy! The only tool we have to stick it back to the publishers.
Piracy is not a "tool to stick it back to the publishers." The only "tool" you have for that is whether or not you buy the game.
Yeah, if you have some stupid self-important bratty bitchfest problem with a 6 day delay, fine, "send them a message" by not buying the game. But that does NOT justify you getting to play the game (which cost millions of dollars, and dozens of people years of their lives to create, and like any commercial product, is relied on by it's producers for their livelihood) for free.
Not buying a game is fine. But thinking that you ever have any justification to pirate it is the most selfish thing I've ever heard. I don't like a lot of things about Walmart, but I don't think that could justify me shoplifting from them (which I don't do).
I'm no anti-piracy activist (I'm a massive offender, myself), but I would never, ever try to justify it. It is quantifiably wrong and not justified, and I think people who do it should at least be grown-up enough to own up to that.

Ah, good, we have an expert on all the intricacies of modern multiplatform game development, who is also keen too all of Gearbox's internal issues. Good to know.

There's justification for piracy.
Sometimes games are fun to play but finished in 3 or 4 hours and they cost 50 euros.
And then of course those with to many bugs.

That falls into the exact same category as what I explained: if you don't think it's worth the price, then don't buy it. Go ahead and pirate it, I can't guilt trip you out of doing that, nor is that my intention. The bottom line is that that still does not justify you playing it for free.
Try again. Actually, don't, because it's indefensible.

These are fun, but I hope the actual game has less Christian Bale/Bill O'reilly/Movie director jokes.

So did you hear about Assassin's Creed 2 getting pushed back by a quarter of a year for no real reason at all?
Hey buttnuggets; I'm gonna pirate this game simply BECAUSE of the delay. Not because I don't think it's worth the money, but BECAUSE OF THE DELAY. I had this game down as a day1 purchase, but I will NOT be held hostage by publishers treating me like a 2nd-fucking-class citizen.
Don't like it?
KISS MY ASS
As for my knowledge on the "intricacies" on modern day development? Eat me. I don't see a single thing with this entire situation that *isn't* based on pure and simple greed. Delay the PC version, needlessly, in order to make the - more expensive - console version the only SKU on the market. Which does what, boys and girls? YES! It increases profits!
Greed, plain and simple.
I don't like greedy publishers or developers. In a bid to get more sales by artificially limiting the availability, they've just lost a sale.
