Single player is fun, but multiplayer is absolutely pathetic. MP has bad animations, bad gfx, bad gameplay, bad everything.

Am quite enjoying the singleplayer so far, I think they did a good job with the graphics considering the engine they used, and the gameplay reminds me of RTCW somewhat with the mix of hight tech and old weapons. The story parts travelling around the city are a nice touch and tie the levels together nicely and it's cool the bothered with the upgrade system too. AI behaves much the same as in Doom 3 so no real improvements there, e.g you and strafe a corner just peeking out and pop enemys off without them even reacting if they dont see you or thier comrade gets his face shot off right next to them.
Disclaimer: Grammatical and spelling mistakes are purposely left in my posts to weed out anally retentive trolls.

It's fun when they react on the panzerfaust, even when U don't have any ammo for it just switching to it makes them yell.

What kind of hardware do you have? It is not graphically advanced at all, but the upside of this is, it runs very well on relatively weak machines. Could also be driver issues; have you updated? |
I've a OC'd 8600m GS, game runs perfectly below 1024x640. But once I hit that resolution or above, fps drops to 47-55 range ( I play css a lot so lack of a few frames really bothers me ) Tried to tweak graphic settings but didn't really make a difference. I guess my card can't handle high resolutions? On a side note, does resolution depend more on card clock or memory or both?
oh and I'm using 186.03 |
For such a card, 47-55 fps on a 800p resolution (1280x800) is perfectly fine.

RCTW was short, too. I think it only had 7 levels (divided into chapters).

Not because of piracy, which is just as rampant on every console. They may blame all the evils of the world on piracy, but only when they think it can justify their actions, like adopting more draconian protection schemes or moving to consoles.
- Console games are less complex, and thus easier to make.
- Without too much effort, you can have your game on both PS3 and X360, which means increased profits. Applying the same amount of effort, you get a shitty PC port, though, but it's enough for the devs to make a little bonus aside from their main market: consoles.
- Console hardware can't be upgraded, and once some time has passed, it becomes obsolete. So developers don't have to cope much with technological advancement until the next generation of consoles comes around.
- Console games are shallower than PC ones, and this is partly due to their lousy control scheme, which hasn't changed in like 15 years (since the PSX)*. The exception's the Wii. Nintendo's the only console company that at least tries to innovate every now and then, and for that they have my respect.
So on the whole, it would seem console games require less effort overall and make more profit. But developers obviously can't say that, so the blame piracy, which has been around since the invention of software, and at least on PC hasn't gotten stronger in the past 10 years. Before the torrents there were other P2P programs like Kazaa, and Usenet, well, Usenet's been around for ages.
*Yes, the PC's keyboard and mouse haven't changed much in decades, but they don't need to: they make up a damn fine control scheme. Try playing an RTS or FPS with a controller. The former is insufferable, whereas the latter feels like playing Doom without a mouse, except with auto-aim everywhere to compensate for the obvious shitty controls. The sticks don't really help, and feel like you're trying to aim an artillery gun instead of a soldier's weapon.
And yeah, I heard you can get a mouse and keyboard for some consoles, but that's not having much of an impact as console games aren't properly adapted to them, and we're still getting dumber and dumber products every year.

Too bad that brain of his is a little biased.
First of all there's barely any piracy on consoles. PS3 has no piracy and 360 has minimal piracy (you can not pirate any downloadable content for 360, which is DLCs, Arcade games, Indie games etc.). I don't count Wii cos it's a toy for housewives and it can die in a fire.
I agree about his comments on hardware.
But then he goes completely off with controls. Console controls are great imo for majority type of games. FPS and RTS are the only genres that suffer a little on consoles control wise.
