There were penalties for doing this in CT? I did it all the time. You could even choose an assault weapon set at the begining of each mission.

This better not be repetitive like every other Ubisoft game lately, I usually finish every peace of crap I start playing but I couldn't finish the latest PoP and FC2, PoP especially was a huge letdown.

Ubisoft wasn't repetitive back then but they sure are fucking repetitive now.
Even Assassins Creed jeez, every game they put out is repetitive to the mothafuckin' bone, they truly are masters of repetition.

It's coming out Fall this year.
I don't know where people got "June" from, it was said from the beginning that it is going to be released this autumn.

I've also read it would come out at the end of June, but that doesn't look realistic. Like a half year ago they started from scratch again

Nope.
At E3 the Pres of Ubisoft and the Lead Game Designer guy for SC:C said it will be out in the fall (so anywhere from Sept 21st - Dec 21st). I'm guessing mid November.
Not to close to Christmas, but not to far away. Probably after the American Thanksgiving (or right before).

A small correction, that LEAD engine is in fact UE2.5 with extensive modifications, as was the SCCT back in 2005. It is similar to how Irrational Games (2K now) called their engine the "Vengeance engine" for BioShock, when it was in fact UE2.5 with the UE3 rendering capabilities and some additional modifications mishmashed in.

so long stealth game ..
apparently they are focusing ALOT on action , didnt see any stealth there , i mean shit , he just entered a room and shot everyone , dumb and pointless , anyway even if Splinter Cell series was half action and half stealth , seems that they forgot about the latter and focused on action game .
ah well , another ass raped series , too bad SC CS was fantastic (1 , 2 were also good)
next stop , buttfucking Thief series.

I think the emphasis in this video was in the last sentence. EVERYBODY wants to play... So it is going to be simplified a lot!

Jesus.. first they say yeah we invented stealth games but now that we play them we don't like Sam Fisher he isn't man enough, he shouldn't be hiding when he's discovered like some pussy, he should be able to kill them all like Chuck Norris well guess what, that is the basis of all stealth games, which you did not invent, because knowing that you're screwed when discovered makes you try harder to stay stealthy otherwise there is no motivation.
Well it was a good run while it lasted, four very nice games, this one is a complete overhaul, last time Ubi decided to do that was with the new Pop and that one was a disaster.

Please read this topic, in this topic the devs gives answers to gamers:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5271091065/m/1911036467
And in particular this part:
Q. Is it possible to go through the whole game without being seen, heard, or using my pistol...
Basically, can I use only stealth the whole game??
Absolutely, all the maps can be played completely in stealth when special circumstances do not require you to play otherwise. It is up to the user to decide how they play the game. We have crafted a versatile and rewarding experience for all gamers. With that said, Conviction is designed to give the player an edge if they play intelligently. For example, playing smart will allow you access to Mark and Execute, as well the ability to gain information from interrogations, among other benefits.

Games that allow you to choose between stealth and action always fail when action option gives the same result. If i remember well the same 'concept' was in Hitman 2 and i found it pathetic.

Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, both originally scheduled to release in the third fiscal quarter (October 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009), have been pushed back to the fourth fiscal quarter (January 1, 2010 - March 31, 2010).
