I can't speak for EVERY device, since I don't have every device, heh, but everything I do have worked as fine on Win7 as they did on WinVista.

Enough with the RAM usage complaint, already. Jesus H.
Forget XP, it's old and tired .. lol. I've not encountered any games or apps that won't work on Vista (and now, subsequently, Windows 7) - so I binned XP for good and have been running Vista (again, now Win7) exclusively.

Nothing we didn't already really know, but the Windows 7 x64 RC available now on MSDN is identical to the earlier x64 7100 leak.

You sure it's not the gestures taking your window and maximizing it?

If it's the auto-size-thingy when you move a window near the edges of the screen it can be turned off:
Control Panel - Ease of Access - Change how your mouse works - Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen.
Weird place to put that particular option if you ask me, but there it is, if that's what you were looking for.

Thanks,i'll test it later...so far so awesome W7 <3...32bit...everything works as it should
Things to test:
-Wacom Bamboo Black
-Trillian Astra Build 103
-TEAM FORTRESS 2 online match (Graphic stuff performance etc...)
-HP Scanjet 2200c (Scanner)
-HP Deskjet 5940 (Printer)
If everything works...welcome home...
Oh yeah,there's this other thing...
Installed Messenger 2009 with apatch n msn plus (no probs)...the thing is..that the messenger icon's not on the bottom right anymore (like XP/Vista)..it's at the bottom left (windows at taskbar)..there are 2 icons, the user icon and the contact list..if u close the contact list from taskbar u can just press the user icon and bring it back, but if u close the user icon it closes the whole program...any fix?,or Microsoft forgot about us freaks?
That's all for now...

Ok,here comes the last of my problems and it seems W7 itself cant fix it..
HP Deskjet 5940
Tried installing with the XP drivers, but nothing...usin W7's "Configuration" makes new errors appear (Dll's i think)
With the Vista 32bit drivers it says that's not compatible...W7's configuration works!,but printer doesnt appear at photoshop CS4 nor any other place...wtf?...Do you guys think HP will release W7 drivers for it?
EDIT: Is it me or does some old games like WORMS World Party and a few other's graphics look like SHIT?...Age Of Empires works, but WWP works but with ultra shitty graphics (looks like a negative photo)
Are the video drivers the problem?,usin' latest W7 nvidia graphic drivers..and i tried the XP / Vista compatibility

Bit late regarding that XP "virtualization" thing but Sabin you probably won't miss much with it as it uses the CPU for hardware acceleration for stuff like DirectX or OpenGL acceleration instead of the GPU so "gaming" isn't that useful for it.
(Older applications might have a use for it however.)

I wonder why they don't allow for gpu hardware acceleration. The simplest and most effective way would be to just forward the calls, at least in fullscreen mode. But yeah, with Intel VT (and the AMD equivalent), apps in the VM work almost transparently performance wise. I wonder why Intel would not put it in the E7XXX line. Could be artificially locked, and somehow crackable, but not sure about that.

I'd install it if I could get past this dumbass error Code 5!
I've heard nothing but good things about Win7 so I say that's a dumb question :B
On second note maybe you shouldn't cuz Win7 requires 2GB of ram but you might be able to cheat your way to Win7 gloriness!

On my 1GB laptop it works much faster than Vista.
Ci2e, now that you asked in the proper thread, I will answer. You can install without booting from a DVD. Just extract the ISO to a temp folder (preferably on your boot HDD), and run the setup from there.

are you talking about extracting the contents of the dvd onto my C: drive and then running setup.exe while running XP or booting to DOS (I forget how to do this) and running the install?

Nah, no DOS needed. You extract it to C:\, then from Windows just run the setup. The only problem with this is, you cannot install a 64bit OS from within a 32bit OS. But if both are 32bit or 64bit, then no problem. Also, setup is much faster that way.
