The "Live" disabler has been updated to work with Fallout version 1.1, can still just rename the catalogue file instead of using it to stop Live from loading but this probably disables it entirely.

Achievement list for "Operation Anchorage", somewhat interesting for PC users as well since the game uses "Windows LIVE".
(All of them are tied to primary quests from the looks of it.)

Anchorage reclamation begins now. Smile

(Have to work now though so I can't give any details or comments until later today.)

EDIT: FRAPS is due to AERO thus believing that the application is a 3D one.

Ripping the DLC was easy, very easy. Smile

Content was saved in the "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\425307d6\00000002\d96e635e19d298dac6820680085d45c5d36b9130\Content" folder and could just be copied over. Smile

Contains only three files aside from the LIVE stuff, Anchorage.ESM, Anchorage - Main.bsa and Anchorage - Sounds.bsa

Will see what I can gain from messing with the file itself, unpacking BSA files is easy and converting the ESM into a more editable ESP is also pretty simple.

EDIT: Unpacking the BSA files was easy and turning the ESM file into ESP also worked though it grew a bit bigger. (28 MB from 13 MB)

EDIT: There's a TON of content in the BSA file but I'll refrain from spoiling anything.

I wonder if this can be played "legit" without actually buying it, which is a fucking hassle (cards, points, marketplaces). I mean, would the new achievements still be present and register, and so on. Because i've heard it normally checks to see if your Live ID has bought it, or something like that.

Read what I posted. Smile

In case it's not as obvious as I thought it was I found the files, checking them via FoMM or any other utility (The launcher for example.) allows it to be used as any other modification without LIVE (Which is also how the plugin works, sign in to LIVE and it'll use the LIVE folder to load the content.)

This has been confirmed by others on the official forum as well. Smile

All that would be required is that someone uploads the ESM and those two BSA files.
(They're too big for me to upload though and I've no idea where to send them anyway, could release the ESP modification I did, useless without the extra content though.)

Nah, that's not what i'm saying, i understood it works fine ingame if used as any other oblivion dlc or whatever. What i don't get is exactly how the game interacts with the live client, telling it about the new content, the new achievements that should appear on my gamertag and so on. I'm not simply interested in playing it, i'm interested in it properly interacting with my live gamertag, as my game is live-enabled with a legit code and i do care about the achievements

Sorry for misunderstanding, that happens via the latest LIVE client and Fallout 3 patch.

New LIVE functions in Fallout 3 1.1 explained a bit here.
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/

Marketplace uses your LIVE account (Black bar on mine in the screen above to prevent issues.) and the stuff you own via it.

When signed on with the latest patch and LIVE client this info can be used by the game and thus it adds one new achievement for the player to unlock and add to their gamerscore upon completing the DLC missions. Smile

Is that better? I'm not that good at explaining but hopefully this makes some sense.

EDIT: Using the content on a LIVE account that doesn't own it should also be possible by taking all the stuff in the folder above (Aside from the BSA and ESM files there's some general files.) and placing it in a similar location, thus fooling the LIVE client and the game into thinking you own the content.
(Fallout 3 also tracks your DLC's via a DLCList.txt file but I don't know if it's actually used.)

EDIT: Misc stuff from the BSA files.

Creatures
 Spoiler:

Armor
 Spoiler:

Weapons
 Spoiler:

EDIT: Based on the texture data and GECK Nif preview texture modding is needed for the third person weapons to look "good"
(Similar to original Fallout 3 third person weapons and certain ammunitions use a very low-res texture, easy to fix and looks much better once fixed.)

EDIT: DLC chinese pistol comparison based on the above.

Third person texture (Worldmodel and such as well.)

1st person texture (When equipped and in first person perspective.)

EDIT: Done, copy to the "\Data\Textures\dlcanch\weapons" folder.

It took me 30 seconds to refit the repair rethought mod to enable the gauss to be repaired with laser rifles. It's certainly not that big an issue.

True if you know how to use the GECK you can modify things pretty easily. Smile

For example the Balaclava on the snow combat armor helmet can be refitted to the normal combat helmets as the actual helmet mesh is identical so by making some smaller texture tweaks via GECK you can do this.

(As a side note Reily's armor is actually supposed to use it's own helmet texture, it's included and set up properly as seen via the GECK editor but the actual helmet uses the default combat armor helmet so it doesn't fully match.)

EDIT: In the same way it's possible to clean up some of the weapons and armors in the game by using the texture data from the DLC.
(Might look odd considering how everything else looks quite worn.)

EDIT: DLC02TestWeap is the cell name of a testing cell containing all DLC equipment.
(There's also DLC02TestText, DLC02TestFF and DLC02TestDaryl plus TestPhil and TestDLCAnchUtility.)

If you mean Anchorage I've no doubt someone will leak it soon enough seeing as it's pretty easy to do, might already be out for all I know.

Random images of no special interest or purpose.

That Hei-Gui stealth suit also has a bug which allows you to wear any helmet with it and ontop of other helmets, looks pretty funny.

Does the P2P "rip" still function with achievements? I was *going* to buy it today (in order to test a theory I had. Since I use the same GamerTag/account for both XBL and G4WL I was going to buy the G4WL DLC and see if that also applied to the 360 version, though I doubt it would) -- but I overspent on the Marketplace this week and completely tapped myself out Sad

No Idea, I didn't get the rip. I ripped my bought version so I could use it with geck and mods.

Ah well, I'll try the rip and if it doesn't work with Achievements (I honestly don't see how it could do, to be honest. It's just an ESM/BSA setup and if that alone could give achievements, there would be a million "100P Achievement" mods) then I'll just buy it.

Thanks anyway, Epsilon.

Final comment of the review

Quote:

I love Fallout 3. I love it to an almost indecent extent. It was far and away my game of 2008, and doesn't look like being knocked out of my personal top spot for a good while yet. But when you sift out its role-play, the ammo-box inspection and the exploration and draft in a fleet of health and ammo regeneration points to compensate... well, affairs just feel shallow and somewhat naked. Hopefully a lesson has been learnt at Bethesda towers. Business as usual next time please.

For those worried about achievements you could try the "AddAchievement" console command to force the game to unlock specific achievements, for the expansion that should be "AddAchievement 51" to "AddAchievement 55"

Oh and the ESM and BSA structure is such that you don't need to alter any INI files, if a BSA file and ESM/ESP file match the BSA archive(s) will be loaded alongside the ESM/ESP file. Smile

It's a fun little addition to the game but very linear and "shooter" styled, reward is nice though and the second DLC (Funny that the internal stuff in the ESM refers to this as DLC02) - The Pit - should be more open-ended and then there's the third DLC that continues the game after the (Now considered non-canon) endings.

EDIT: The cell "TestPhil" included blueprints for a trench knife where you combined wonder glue with brass knuckles and a combat knife, not working properly though.
(Also has a bunch of test items.)

Just tried it, and it´s a little weird to see the game in that environment.

And even that's wrong-i just got to go around a little-got the signal while walking from megaton to vault 101 path.
