Fantastic series, in my opinion it's up there with Rome as one of the most unyielding dramatizations there is!

hmmm so the shield is good?

I never bothered with it. What makes it so special?

Would I like it if I like 24?

Because you can't compare a in-your-face-camaraderie-cop-drama-with-shaky-cam to an in-depth show with realism, a heavy storyline and deep character progression that has a social commentary? Laughing

I like The Shield a lot for what it is, but The Wire is in a different league.

That was my point.

I like The Shield more because of the action-oriented-drama approach (and the exceptional camera-work + Chiklis), however The Wire is also muy bueno.

Seems like the subtitles also work with the repack. I checked two points in the episode, one in the beginning and one near the end, and they were in sync.

Haven't seen any specific subtitles for the repack, and not for the x264 release either (The.Shield.S07E01.RNFO.HR.PDTV.X264-DIMENSION).

CaptainCox - be advised, The Wire is "slower" than The Shield. So, if it's slow for you, don't abandon the first season in the middle of it. The Wire is also worth watching.

Still, season 7 of The Shield started with a blast and i know why i fucking love the show! Live feet surgery FTW! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

CaptainCox : you definately wanna see the Wire. To me it's the best show that has ever hit our screens. Compared to the Shield it definately slow paced. But it has rich dialogues, a very realistic feel and topnotch acting. Just try the two first seasons (the second one is the best imo) and then decide if you continue.

EVERY single one of my friends I recommended this show to, absolutely adores it.
And i generally have a good taste in shows ; )

Let me know when you're hooked

EDIT: FYI --> rating of The Wire on imdb.com --> User Rating: 9.7/10 (11,900 votes)

Wow 9.7/10 on IMDB - that's pretty high! But make no mistake - show kicks some serious butt.

Oh, i almost forgot, the main theme (each season has the sam theme but in different styles) is fucking AWESOME! It simply is.

EDIT :
About the S5 ending...
