What differences are between a Pentium D at 3Ghz and a Core2Duo at 2,4Ghz?...are they instantly like noticeable?...should i upgrade? (got a 975XBX Intel MoBo)..

About the GPU question,how many "C" (Temperature) 's does each one of the new nVidia 8800GTX/S/GT series does make?..actually my nVidia EN7900GT with a modded ZALMAN is around 44-49C...i guess a huge ass 8800 will do a lot more <<;;;

about the GPU,i'm not thinkin' of changin' until our 7900 like ones dies ^^;

The Core and Core 2 CPU lines are completely different from architectural point than the crappy Pentium CPU lines, so yeah, you will see a huge difference. I'm not sure if that mobo supports C2D.

My 8800GTX is ~55C idle and ~60-70 under load.

On a warm day my card gets up to 90C.

CPU comparison

You should choose the benchmark that is relevant to your situation.

Core2Duo is definetly worth getting, even a 4300 chip. Used to have a P4 3.2 Ghz and went to a e6400 (2.13 Ghz) core2 chip and the difference was very noticeable. About the GPU, 8800 GTX cards give out alot of heat, even if Nvidia says it's fine for it to get to 90c, I'd still worry and end up putting a after-market cooler on it like a Zalman Razz

Actually the chart is here to compare a same setup but with different CPUs. I don't know what gfx card, between others, they used to get such a FPS ratio. Thus your setup should have the same FPS ratio only if you use the same others components (mobo, gpu, ram sticks, etc).
