Make sure you use DLSS on the "upscaling" menu point. At 1440p I run maxed out with ray tracing and DLSS balanced at 100 fps avg. Without DLSS it feels really slugish.

I've been playing since the official release earlier today, managed to play 11 hours of it.

I think it's alright, nothing quite revolutionary, but it doesn't really improve on enough aspects from the first one to be considered a great sequel. I enjoyed the first game and personally have no qualms with that, but there are elements that are worse now.

I think the combat and the AI are lacking and are somehow worse than in the first game.

Graphically the game looks good with RTX, but the bad performance is noticable even with DLSS enabled. The co-op is broken most of the time, there are a lot of disconnects and it would seem that the story progress is only for the host, or at least in my experience. My friend tried to play while I was asleep and he had to start from the beggining, couldn't load any checkpoint or save.

I haven't encountered any major bugs, the only bug that I really had was when I try to takedown a walker, the body dissapears for a second but after the animation is over everything seems fine.

I just saw that Dying Light 2 will be free with select Intel CPU purchases so that means there will probably be cheap keys popping up in the next few weeks.

With a 2070 super:
I lowered resolution to 1080p, Dlls performance and turned ray tracing on. The game does look better somehow. Lower resolution does not matter a lot cause the ray tracing makes it all look warmer. Going back to a higher resolution/dll quality just looks worse.
Did had framedrops the first run, but after a restart it's was suddenly stable. Worth a try. Not sure if it will deliver stable framerate in more demanding areas though.

The writing is trash and the voice acting is hardly any better.

The DLSS implementation is a ghosty mess.

The transition of cutscenes in coop takes away any sort of immersion. Also, if one player dies during a random encounter, the encounter just disappears in front of your eyes if the other player is not around.

Everything about this game feels cheap.

From all the videos of this game being maxed out, it looks old gen as hell. Like a slightly better FarCry 6

A slightly better Far Cry 6. That's good right?
You shouldn't expect a graphics revolution the comming year cause of the GPU shortage.

The game looks fine and performs like it should, just like any other decent AAA game.

How would that affect anything? This never stops consoles and their ~5+ year old hardware from making games look better over time. That's what graphics settings are for as well.

Well you can't design a game for current gen GPU's specifically cause almost nobody has one and upgrading is not an option for most and it's very uncertain next year will be better. In the past devs could just focus on new hardware to design a game with a 3 year upgrade cycle. People would upgrade anyway.

That said I think dying light 2 is very demanding even for a current high end GPU allready. 1440p full ray tracing is a challenge. Hardware isn't good enough to offer anything better.

That's one hell of a flawed logic. By that logic, every game should be designed for 1060 because most gamers have this video card.

Didn't you know? Epic, id, Unity, Crytek etc all look at GPU demand and put their tools down until everyone has upgraded

It looks dated as fuck and if you don't have ray tracing it's even worse.

It's hilarious that in one of the quests they have you looking at this poorly textured tree that has some bullet holes sprites on it. It felt like going back in time. Laughing

When GoW, an almost 4 year old console game, looks better, there's something wrong Laughing

GoW is made up of small linear map sections so they can improve the visuals but with DL2 the area is much larger and so the asset detail has dropped.

This DL2 problem is much like 2042 and Cyberpunk, they have opted to support previous generation consoles (that's where the money is) and so the game development suffered for 'high end' hardware players.

For me, DL2 is a broken, buggy mess with average graphics, a poor story line and so on.

the way the map changes dynamically during gameplay is awesome, people building bridges and helpful shit reminds me a lot of deathstranding Laughing
my only complaint is that the jump pads don't let you fall from high up on them.. and you can't kick people on to them for comedic effect Laughing

people complaining about the graphics? what other games have actual building interiors with multiple floors, no loading sequences anywhere, cities absolutely packed with shit. what games are we really comparing to here? sure the fidelity of many decor objects isn't amazing, some of the billboarding sucks, but i'm not seeing the whole bad graphics angle myself. the game is also running great for me although i'm obviously not using RT.

It's always the same with overhyped games. People expect something life changing. Then they realise it's just another game and they are disappointed and it's all kinds of terrible.
And a game can't be perfect in any way. The more ambitious a game is, the more flaws it will have.

there seems to be some kind of memory leak/instances of dlss breaking after playing awhile. Frames dropping from 60 to 20. When i restart the game the same scene is smooth again.

Also, giant trees growing on houses, trees dont work like that.

I gave up with ray tracing, my 5950x and 3070 aren't up to it, so I just play at 5120x1440 native res with everything on high but use FSR quality as I find DLSS blurs things more. Framerate was 100-120 fps but since the last patch dropped to 70-80 fps.

Aside from the comical roof plant life, just nit-picking but there's repetition (e.g. buses always have same 'treasure', roofs with honey always same and so on).

Steam has this overall as very positive (21k positive and 5k negative). I voted negative as I am disappointed yet another game fails to live up to what was claimed, and on top of that, the reality is the game is riddled with bugs and has performance issues.
