This game looks quiet decent, a truly competant game since Doom from Romero then? I hope he returns to and or finds the funds to persue his Blackroom FPS. Maybe Paradox will fund it and this was game was a competancy test Razz

I'm pretty sure it was more from his wife as she's billed as lead designer, rather than him. She is from the Sir-Tech days (Jagged Alliance) and the strategy genre. Laughing

Just beat the game on Boss difficulty with 10 neighborhoods and 13 major factions. The end date was 6 MONTHS after I started (the game is supposed to end in 10 years).

Once you take out the first two bosses, you can just steamroll the rest in short order - no need to worry about finances (you'll get enough from being gifted their territory), weapons (bosses all drop Uniques and rares), or the cops (they literally do fuck all). Forget about buying any racket upgrades, they cost 10x more (and take so long to build) than they'll ever return for you.

So many cool ideas in this game all wasted because whoever the fuckwit was in charge of putting them together lacked the skill to make them compliment one another. It's a prime example of why the main systems designer needs to understand how the fuck to make it all work together.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Nothing other than a ground-up total rework of systems (economy/combat/maps) will save this. No amount of "tweaking" numerical values and quashing bugs (which, to their credit, they've been doing at least) will be enough.

The economic aspect is too simple. There's not enough rackets. There's not enough combat maps. There's not enough ANYTHING. Every play through, regardless of the boss you chose, is the fucking same apart from ONE SINGLE boss specific mission.
