theres something about the game that feels cheap, cutscenes and graphics look great but everything else kinda undone, not much depth.

It's super easy on regular driving mode + normal mode. I lowered those just for the race and won instantly.

That's what I had to do for that specific mission only. It's just unfair you have the slowest car in the batch and start at the last line. On classic I finished 2nd far too many times I gave up lol.

I grabbed one of those handy repacks from the Bronx out of curiosity, played the first seven missions, and came to the conclusion that I expected with sad trombone sounds and all. This is an offer I can easily refuse Okay

Leaving aside the new cast/voices, dialogue lines and different tone overall which are all distinctly less inspired than the original whilst adding absolutely nothing of value, all the core gameplay elements are essentially borrowed from Mafia 3 and that will never not be a source of discomfort for me. From the same approximative cover peashooting to the silly QTE-based melee combat, from the awkward AI routines to the driving that retains the floaty boat-like aftertaste even on "simulation", from the various structural simplifications to the music and atmosphere incapable of recreating the charm and believable realism that the original game had, has and will always have.

Somehow, every single aspect that isn't the graphics is worse in the remake. It's not a complete disaster since at least there was an attempt to repropose the classic formula without insane grind and without adding nonsensical modern features from Purpletown, but as far as I'm concerned the Hangarsoft frauds definitely weren't up to the task back in 2016, and they still aren't now. 5 va fongool and a half/10

Since they cut so much out of the game, driving back, lucas bertone missions and the gameplay is so easy, magnetise to cover and pop-a-mole, the whole game is done in about 6 or 7 hours. The original was at least double that. here you're just following order, everything you have to do in any mission you just follow the instructions, go there, do that. In the original you had to actually play and figure out, fights were difficult. Omerta and You Lucky Bastard are so easy and barren in the remake compared to how they were

I finished Omerta last night and decided to check what it was like in the original, since it's been 17 years since I played it and my memory is hazy and WOW, just wow. Laughing

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

IMO the remake is a waste of what could have been an awesome open world game. Sure the old one was a masterpiece, and a testament to what graphics hardware could be made to do at the time, and I loved it.... Then. But nowadays considering we're all used to rich open worlds with tons of content, sidequests, characters, achievements (ok, sure I don't actually give a shit about those) etc. the remake just seems empty, void of life and frankly a bit boring. Shame Neutral

The original pushed boundaries, the remake could've done the same if they had the budget. It seems they wanted a "quick" remake to hype people up for the rumored Mafia 4.

Finished it... Nice car models and parts of the city.
I liked the quality of life improvements and ability to skip driving sometimes and police not being as annoying. Generally the pacing was better.

But characters, voices are all worse. Atmosphere is worse, shooting is terrible and worst of all - the music is very bad

Would be quite weird with the old low quality audio with the modern graphics. You'd have lots of complaints about the quality and why they didnt record new ones when the rest is remade. We should all know how this usually plays out

But honestly, i can't for the life of me remember a remake that is actually better than the original. Only thing that might be better is the ability to run the game better on a modern machine, but the rest?... a big ass nope.

It's not only voices but music and not much tension building.
In original, the faces barely move at all and they express 10x more emotion.

Anyway - Fine remake if someone never played original. I understand playing early 2000 game now needs a high jank tolerance so at least there is remake for those

Looks beautiful, but more a remaster than a remake. No Quality of life improvements or gameplay alterations in general as far as i know. Just the graphics.

finished and was ok, they could have done more, expanded story and not do so many time jumps. wasted open world map, wasted opportunity. but yeah, its a remake but plays like a remaster.

The old voices sound very amateurish to me, now.

and yet convey 10x more emotions than new "gangster tough" tommy and whiny paulie

Exactly Laughing, the remake has the same unconvincing and forced tone as those videos, only adapted to a serious context in a way that's supposed to make the characters sound "cool", just like we wrote some days ago.

It wasn't designed to portray people in an authentic and believable way, with all their human insecurities and flaws. It was specifically engineered to keep the average Joe who's never played the original game invested by matching his preconceptions. No wonder Vàvra dislikes it as well, the new style feels like the byproduct of the jaded Hollywood industry which is the complete opposite of his approach - the same one that made Kingdom Come feel so genuine and so different from the rest of the tripeA stuff.

Here's something outRAGEous that I'm going to say:

"I'd say it makes MUCH MORE SENSE for Tommy to already have an innate bandit mafioso pedigree. Otherwise, any other regular honest-to-god Joe would have avoided business with the mob at all cost.

So that's why he sounds like some sort of gangster from the start. Who knows, maybe he had it in him already, since he is SO GOOD at being a mobster.

Hm? How does that sound?!
