Too many people are concerned about their image. I find that to be a popular argument against VR - that you look 'silly', yet I imagine a good number of those saying this have no problem acting like a retarded palsy-riddled orangutan every Saturday night flailing their limbs about after a few pints in an attempt to look 'cool' while showing off their smooth moves...
I had concerns maybe a little in the beginning of VR. But now, I've been playing Alix while my wife was reading on the couch just besides me. I mean, its not like she has much choice besides divorce at this point.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I got the koss ksc75 and some nice replacement leather earfoams
Gonna try and print this. glad It works for the KSC75s too
Leather pads suck with ksc75. They need to be close to your ears

would VR work on low settings on an integrated gpu like vega 8 for the simple gfx games like those cutting fruits in half and slicing stuff
And do u need two hands for vr ?
I have a stuck at home 70yold uncle with a paralyzed arm and th mental capacity of a 8 y old and sofar , gaming just to damn complicated , but VR made me think these simple hand movement gesture games could be a good way to induce exercise
are there games for 7y old that require no reading capability and just one good hand (other semi paralyzed), that work easily by pressing just one button on a screen to turn them on
or is it a nightmare of menus and options and settings n shit
it has to be as easy as putting helmet on grabbing controller and start playing with one hand and not having to read anything
what vr set and games would fit the bill best for such a scenario ?
most games don't have much text except the main menu.
the vega 8 i have absolutely no idea, but potato games are probably alright? beat saber level stuff.
probably around half of VR games need two hands. some are just harder with 1 hand.
should still be some pretty fun ones, your main concern will be them destroying objects around them while in VR
you could always get the quest headset as it's tetherless and doesn't require a PC.
If your Uncle can only use one arm/hand maybe try the xbox controller for disabled people. Their are vr games out where with support for gamecontroller in gerneral, maybe this is a solution. Otherwise tough luck with only one arm/hand.
- WMR
- $600
- 4 cameras for tracking (1.4x better than previously)
- Valve-designed lenses, 2160 x 2160 LCD panels per eye at 90Hz, 114-degree field of view (FOV)
- IPD adjustment
- New design for controllers (they look similar to Oculus' now)
- New headphones, using Valve's Index approach
Might be good if you don't want to go full Index, assuming it's going to work reliably (let's see!)
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
It sounds like a really good hmd but I'd like it to use controllers similar to Valve's index controllers and not rely on WMR.
Still seems like a good package. I'd consider it, but it still doesnt seem like a good enough upgrade to the O+ .

There are different controllers depending on which VR system you buy. There are different Windows Mixed Reality brands but they all use the same Windows Mixed Reality controllers and they differ from those used by Rift, Vive and Index. It's a bit like the different gamepads provided for XBox, PS4 or Nintendo etc.

I am not sure anyone other than oculus knows how to properly do inside out tracking but we will see.
And I really do hope that lcd brightness is adjustable or dynamic. I've had rift S and the black level are terrible compared to cv1. but it's sharper

WMR controllers eat batteries for breakfast, so it's probably wise to find some good rechargeables. Other than that.. the IPD is low, at a max of 68, but if that's wide enough for me.. I might possibly have to consider it - assuming the tracking is up to it...

I use enveloop rechargeable and they last for a good few hours... But they used to seem to run down pretty fast as did regular alkaline. A bit of searching and I came across this
When I cleaned my controllers the batteries definitely lasted a lot longer before the low warning kicked in... I’m taking a few hours more.

They refunded me S and now the quest is coming tomorrow. It's the only one I did not used yet so what the hell... I did not liked the halo strap on S and the LCD screen, while sharp, had terrible black levels that ruined Alyx dark levels.
Any tips and tricks aside from using charging cable as link to play pc games? Is there piracy on this damn thing?

There are 3 pages so far. One release is by Hoodlum. (The Talos Principle VR)
I've seen these. Guess there are no quest isodemos? Maybe on sidequest?

Got the quest. The damn thing is excellent. It's actually not that heavy a pretty comfortable. Screen quality , colors and black levels all are better than S. headphones fit over it no problem too. It feels like quality and the hand tracking is neat af.
The link stutters as fuck though when using the 3 meters charging cable. Looking for fixes

I stream over WIFI and it works great. The charging cable? The cable that comes with it is not suitable for connecting to your PC

But that's probably why it''s stuttering, no?

Nah. There was weird issue that it was trying to do 60hz instead of 72 and I had to refocus game window.
But now I've set up virtual desktop and it's all wireless. Alyx works great. Better than link even
