http://www.dsogaming.com/news/two-worlds-iii-announced-two-worlds-ii-will-receive-engine-update/
Quote:
opWare Interactive has announced that after selling over ten million units, Reality Pump Studios has officially begun work on the third part of its RPG series, Two Worlds. Two Worlds III is currently in the concept stage and scheduled for development over the next 36 months.

Quote:
TopWare Interactive also announced a major engine update for Two Worlds II. And if that wasn’t enough, the publisher will release eight new Two Worlds II multiplayer maps and two brand-new, single-player Two Worlds II DLCs, Call of the Tenebrae and Shattered Embrace.

The first of these DLCs slated to arrive Q2 2016, according to their website.

"The first DLC, entitled Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae will be available at the end of Q2 2016 and focuses on the Hero's return to Antaloor, where he witnesses the shocking murder of DarPha! The killers are a never-before-seen tribe of hideous, rat-like creatures known only as "The Chosen", who control a mysterious, powerful new magic! Their genocidal plot threatens every living creature in Antaloor, and it's up to the Hero to find a way to stop them!"

Here are the key features of this updated version for Two Worlds II.

An expansion to Two Worlds 2 now? That seems pretty strange but I guess they need the money.

I enjoyed the first one but never got into the 2nd one as it was awful on PS3. I'm actually pretty happy about this.

Don't know if it's so clever to produce DLCs for this several years old game now.

I doubt that many people will buy those nowadays, especially not those mulitplayer ones.
Might try the singleplayer DLCs though, if reviews for them are good. As i think i enjoyed TW2. Very Happy

I'd like to stay positive and applaud them for this, but after Raven's Cry, and its post-release drama with beyond bizarre developments, I'm not sure anymore Laughing

Guess we can only wait and see. I ended up enjoying TW2 as well, despite the jankiness, abysmal UI, and hilarious leveling system xD. I mean it's not that we have many alternatives these days with the poor Piranhas chasing ghosts (Elex, please, be at least decent..ish..it's your last chance!)

"Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae plunges the Hero into a decades-old mystery and a battle against a hideous, ancient evil known as The Tenebrae. The stakes have never been higher, but our hero won’t face this threat alone. Friends and foes both new and old await you, as you fight to discover the truth behind a powerful secret that will shake the Two Worlds universe to its core."

With that, you'll return to Antaloor in a story boasting over ten hours of play, new locations, enemies and weapons. Slightly worrying is the fact that it's without any in-game footage/trailers at this stage—just over a month away from launch—however it does have a handful of screens which are featured below.

Two Worlds 2: Call of the Tenebrae is due May 25, 2017 as an add-on DLC for $9.99 or as a standalone for $14.99.

They probably want to but when Raven's Cry and the other game they were working on fell apart or didn't pan out as planned well I think Reality Pump might be in some trouble even if they don't admit it themselves.

The engine tech is also very outdated so I wonder how much of that they'll change, updating to DirectX 11.x should be one key part but there's more to it than just the render API.
(The PhysX physics libraries, audio system and I have no idea how well the game actually scales to newer CPU's with quad or above cores.)

Will be fun to see what they'll deliver but I'm not sure it can deliver enough to salvage the franchise or at worst Reality Pump themselves unless they have something more concrete in the works besides their dedication to the existing games they've put out.
Pretty sure the online servers for Two Worlds 1 are still up and being maintained, as is their out of date DRM key registration system but I heard that's being changed finally or well at least for this re-release.

EDIT: Wonder how the initial plans for Two Worlds 2 were, the mid-segment onward got increasingly rushed and hastily wrapped up so I don't think it's as they planned it and there's a ton of unused but detailed and populated unmarked locations whether it's a ancient temple or a strange portal.
(Or a scapulari village complete with sea-creatures sitting around a campfire grilling hot dogs. Razz )

Going by comments the patch hasn't really done anything much to the game, it says 2.0 on the main menu but the visuals are about the same and it's still using DX10 plus the marketing banner is still there and there's a menu now for micro transactions.

Curiously they also locked the "TwoWorldsCheats" console command for debug cvars although you can still tweak the visuals of the game but can no longer add items and the like, people are questioning if said micro transaction feature might be the reason.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/7520/discussions/0/2333276539594669319/

EDIT: The registration is a bit simpler though but it still uses a cd-key for activating the game.

Skillpoints, various upgrade gems and so on from how I understood it, taken from the console version and as of this patch now added to the PC platform.

So no way to re-unlock the console yet? I honestly can't remember if there were mods that did that.
