the engine itself is great, but not very well optimized, the main problem are the consoles being obsolete crap since their launch.
If we had a proper pc version, with original assets instead of just the downgraded console ones, the game could reach the old target render from 2 years ago.

Sure well tbh i wouldn't even care that much about the gfx, i'm usually not like that but i hate pretty much the whole cast the story is shit (at least if it really follows the leaks which is very likely the case as we have seen so far) and the gameplay sucks as well since it's basically KH instead of FF only way more shitty so what's left?

At this point the game could be a masterpiece in form of a very rough diamond, or it could be an absolute disaster.
Ah well, the TGS is next month, and if they dont show any spoilery footage from all the other regions apart from the first 3, then it will be extremely suspect of the overall game state.

Apparently it's also the base PS4 version and not Pro footage, that is quite a reupgrade after the gamescom downgrade Very Happy

Trailer was obviously made on a PC like all the other trailers (and a lot of the gameplay/demos shown)but fanboys will still think otherwise until it's too late as always console release will be a train wreck there is enough evidence for that.
Just wait for the PC/neo version a few months later.

That trailer is standard PS4 footage, the obvious giveaway is the heavy hair dithering, it looks the same as the current TGS build that was run on standard PS4 consoles.

Pro version looks significantly better than that, from the footage they've shown so far it comes pretty close to the 2013 trailers.

Either way it's miles ahead of FF13, the current build is an incredible improvement over the shitty Gamescom one 2 months ago.
I can't believe the progress they've made in such a short time, my hype for the game is definitely reinvigorated, especially after the recent extremely positive impressions.

I really enjoyed Kingsglaive so i'm sort of hyped for FFXV story. Problem is that i pre ordered the game 2 years ago on a E3 3 games for the price of 2 deal and since i already got the first 2 (Destiny and NHL 15) i cannot cancel FFXV. Wouldn't be an issue...if i did not sell my PS3 almost a year ago to buy a Galaxy S6. Laughing

I'm considering getting a PS4Pro only for that. I'd wait for a PC version but latest news is that it's at least 1 year away so likely Q3 2017.....

So either i trade FFXV brand new in it's scelling etc for...something on PC. Or a buy a PS4Pro to play FFXV and a few other games that i missed in the meantime (EA MMA 2 , Uncharted 4 etc)

Ahhhhh decisions decisions.......

A few previes (or pre-reviews) from today:

Gamespot
Quote:
The narrative told in FFXV's first five chapters is captivating, offering an enticing setup for an epic conflict.Whether for fans or newcomers, the game's numerous mechanics and activities proved rich and engaging. What remains out in the world of Eos is undeniably alluring, and I can't wait to explore more of it once the game finally launches this November.

Final Fantasy XV reinvents the lauded Square RPG again

Polygon

After all this time, it feels impossible that I’m about to write these words, but here it goes: Final Fantasy 15 is good. In its first 15 hours, at least, it’s very good. [...] But any complaints I have feel really petty right now in light of what Square Enix seems to have accomplished with Final Fantasy 15.
That is: It’s made Final Fantasy relevant again. They’ve actually done it. I cannot wait to play more.

Gamesradar
Quote:
Final Fantasy 15's world is visually striking, existing on the cusp between the real and the fantastical, and it's really easy to get lost in simply being here, drinking everything in while enjoying the playful banter between these four anime bros. It's a deeply strange juxtaposition, and having those grounded moments where you get lost in the routine of everyday life in a world where a giant freaking crystal meteor just hangs out in the middle of a big open valley makes it all the more intoxicating.

USGamer
Quote:
That's an enormous burden for a single game to shoulder, and by all rights FFXV should be a failure. A spectacular failure, at that. Yet I've put in half a dozen hours with the game now, starting from the very beginning, and I'm pleasantly surprised to find they may just have pulled off what by all rights should be an impossible feat.

Am I dreaming, or has SE actually really managed to pull it off? Holy fuck... Frap Frap Guy

Has there been comparisons of combat between the last demos and this version or just these short statements above?

I'd be delighted of course if this game was good Very Happy once it is released on pc

Yep, apparently combat has been completely revamped since the duscae and platinum demos, it has more weight now, is more responsive and not floaty anymore.
Most people who hated the combat in the demos actually like it alot now.

I hope the final game eases me into the combat better. I played the dream demo thing and I was able to beat the robot dude on the first try, but when I reactivated him for the second go, he kicked my ass, lol.

Clearly I need some practice.

be careful what you wish for, lest we get another another 20 hours of tutorial combat like FFXIII lol

but yeah on a more serious note, I'm sure it'll be fine. Duscae did it well enough with a sparring session with Gladio to teach the basics and some easy enemies to start with.
I'd expect something like that in the final game.

the dream demo was kinda weird.

Dude hugs are not only a bug in the new Japan-only Final Fantasy XV demo, but they’re also a feature.

As reported yesterday, Square Enix just released a new Final Fantasy XV demo in Japan for folks to judge as to whether they will purchase the game. From the looks of it, the demo sure seems buggy.

Demos are often buggy, so what’s the big deal, right? Traditionally, Japanese gamers have been less forgiving than Western players about glitchy games. But more importantly, back in late August, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata said the game was delayed to clean up bugs.

Aside from the bugs, the game is awesome though.
They basically rebuilt the combat from the ground up and the game runs at a pretty stable framerate now. The combat is awesome and alot of fun once it clicks and you get in the flow, the OST is the best FF one since PS2 era. The graphics on OG PS4 overall are great, with some slightly rougher patches here and there, but it will look amazing on the Pro. Driving is pretty much automatic, and serves more as a form of fast travel while you take in the environments and listen to classic FF tunes on the radio (driving at night while the motorcycle theme from FF7 was playing got me teary eyed QQ).
There are around 5 hours of content in the demo if you're trying to do everything and I recommend it to everyone who is on the fence.
It is only in japanese so you will need some of that oldschool trial and error with a dose of memorization like when some of us imported games in the 90s, but still it should be enough to gauge whether you want to get the game or not, since this is the final build sans day 1 patch.
For me it is definitely a big yes, I have sucked out all the bone marrow out of the demo and cant wait for the full release. So Much Win

Oh what I forgot, you'll need to set your PS4 as primary console in your jp account too, then you can access the content from all other accounts.
