Forgot to add - I experienced crashes with legit version. So I really suspect NV drivers. But they work OK with the rest of games, so I was too lazy to change them.

Guys, I honestly think this game is worth a buy. I'm 21 hours in, liking the game a lot. Especially the atmosphere, that is spot on. Story is basic, but that is not, what this is about.

Make sure to play this with the best sound eqipment you have, that engine is so tasty.

yep I'm surprised how good this game is. This is a high quality game and I have no idea where did those gamespot assholes take that 6/10 out of - out of their ass probably.

Mad Max is a missed opportunity: a decent game which lacks diverse content. The devs created a giant and gorgeous world but didn't do much with it. This game is could be a GREAT rpg if they filled the world with proper npcs, quests and whatnot. That said, I'm still enjoying it as there is decent variation in the camps you have to take over and the driving is great, you have to love the sound of the car's engine. Oddly enough I like Max's sidekick much more than Max himself since he has more personality, not to mention that Max treats him like shit, even though he'd be dead in the desert without his skills.

TBH, I feel this way for most multiplat games these days, especially open world ones. While still fun, there's always the lingering regret that they didn't go the extra mile and turn it into an engaging game as well with some rpg/survival features, a bit more challenge, etc.

Seems devs these days are rarely dedicated to creating a scalable gaming experience so that a 12 year old console kid and a seasoned PC gamer can both have the best experience, and they just rather go for a universal singe features/difficulty approach, which leads to watered down games, that while fun, just don't reach the same heights I'm used to from top shelf titles.

Considering this was from Avalanche, I'd say MM was a huge step up from Just Snooze 1 and 2.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Avalanche just have to do giant areas but they fail to fill it up with meaningful content. Mad Max have some nice outposts and the fact that you have to melee through all of them saves them. But the rest is just copy and paste.
Somehow it's less boring than JC but it IS the lazy design of rince and repeat. Especially the bosses in some outpost being the same guy but just being different color are great example of this.

So far Renegade Ops is their best game and it's even not on their official homepage Sad

Still x1000 better than narrow-minded games like the last Thief, frikin loading every two steps first game where I'm scared to go through a window, everything so narrow like it's made for consoles.

Do I need to clear all the minefields, snipers, towers, camps etc in Pink Eye's region to get the final V8 upgrade?

Uhm... yes, you do. That one requires Pink Eye's territory to be at 0 threat.

it needs to you to get the threat level in pink eye's territory to 0
which means clearing all minefields, snipers, towers and camps in said territory Laughing

That's one sexy beast. Very Happy I'm not going for the full clearance either to avoid getting tired (doing only outposts, convoys and races) but for the mighty V8 I can make an exception.

In order to have a minimal sense of challenge I'm not fully upgrading Max and the Maxmobile on purpose either (still have nightmares of Mordor going to the dogs after receiving all the one-button-awesome combos xD), and even with the AAA-related problems and conservative design decision (*shakes cane*) the game never gets stale which is positive. Razz

One thing is for sure, the team responsible for the technicalities, lighting and use of shaders deserves a giant cake Focused

There isn't even such thing as upgrading the car fully. You're supposed to customize it to your liking, even when you have everything for it, since most things affect how it drives, including the armor and ram. Max you're kind of supposed to fully upgrade I suppose, but once I got everything for him I went back to what I liked the look of the most, so just went full Fashion Max on him, heh. I'll post a screenshot when I get into the game next time.

I try to use the top rated equipment but for some parts you have to take into consideration weight against speed so yeah I do customize the car a bit as well though it usually depends on the area I'm in, if it's a low threat region I can sacrifice some armor and the ram for greater speed but in a higher threat region it might be better to turtle up. Very Happy

There's the car bodies as well but I only have two at the moment and four of the available colors though so far I'm only really liking black on black and metallic.

it's not needed at all, don't ruin the game for yourself by clearing those boring mines, it's the only weak part of the game.

I had ways to make them more fun:

Try to find them with the magnus opus: aka blow your car up unexpectedly and another one: lure a horde into the minefield and let them step on one! Laughing

But yeah, the original design is fricking boring and tedious xD
