I expect 60. I expect 60 given the fact that the scenes in question, where the game runs like shite, don't even look that good. The fact that I can lower settings *enormously* and still get shit performance is unacceptable. I do not care if you and Sniffty think it's awesome. I don't. Good for you. You're right a 780 isn't bad, it's still a top shelf piece of hardware, the fact that this game alone can bring it to its knees is unacceptable. Period. Enabling *any* form of hardware AA absolutely cripples performance by 10-20fps++ and that, too, is unacceptable.
I'm done with the conversation. I'm tired of going round in circles with you guys, you're happy it runs like shite but I'm not. Just drop it and move on as your experience in the game with your superduperawesomefantastic hardware is not my concern.

We expect games of present to run decently on present day hardware. And by decently I mean at a steady 60 fps. And NOT on low/med settings.

I dialed shadows down and turned AA to the lowest setting and get about 60fps on average. I also turned off the motion blur when turning the camera because it caused microsttuters. With this fps I enjoy the game a lot more and it feels smoother and I feel more in control. Before it felt like wading through treacle and fighting the camera.
About 5 hours in, I'm starting to enjoy the game - I got the hang of the way-too-low tactical camera (what retard restricted it to this low I have no idea) and minus the many smaller flaws I'm liking the exploration and the Far Cry 3 feel of the game (read: lots of mini locations and stuff to collect and discover).
I'm actually surprised people haven't compared it to Far Cry 3 since it uses a similar mechanism of capturing locations and so on.

Well 49fps in that particular scene standing around. Once I start running I'm never under 50, more like 55. But again this is a discussion of what has to be and what is good enough.
If you need 60fps+ I understand. Your prob I don't.
Regarding the story:
Spoiler: | Haven just got blown up. That was wild. |
Thank god though I dont need 60fps. I am happy with 40 or better 45+. Thats how I can go with time. Best graphics usually mean 40-60fps and not 60+. For that SLI or CF would come to mind. But fuck me Crossfire never again.

I am kinda disappointed in the Hissing Plains area. All this useless space with stupid enemy respawn camps leading to
Spoiler: | just another small tomb with random loot. WAT. I was sort of expecting some epic dungeon and at least a cutscene or two after running around the desert for 3 hours |

Get dw rogue - i think it is the most fun class to play. You have to setup and execute combos, flank, deaggro + you are going to deal epic dips.
S+W Warriors are boring - taunt and keep up guard
Two-handed warriors are super fragile at high difficulties
Archers are also fun but you will keep autoattacking much more than with daggers
Mages are boring IMHO - you have to keep barriers up + spam all you shit on cooldown. And your shit is not that exciting. I am playing with a Knight-Enchanter and he is a bit different than a normal mage - in a sense that he is actually a tank himself autoattacking 90% of the time.

I'm with dsergei 100%, playing as a DW Rogue is undiluted fun! Tanking is dull, standing far away and lobbing fireballs is dull, shooting arrows is dull, but really getting right in there with the weakening setups, flipping around, using anchor chains to snag archers and deal some serious damage, dropping into darkness and jumping out to deal criticals... yeah, damned fun. Deathblow is seriously OP too, it already has an enormous damage potential just from your dual weapons, but when you add in the fact that it gets boosted based on percentage of health lost by foe you end up with a merciless attack. Not to mention the secondary attack it gains if you haven't received damage for 5s.

An alleviation for stuttering that's worked for some people is to adjust mouse smoothing all the way to the right. Counter-intuitive as it may be, it appears the leftmost setting maximizes smoothing while the rightmost disables it.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

The onscreen UI is "functional" but the inventory is a bloody mess.

Somehow, the idea you cannot move while attacking just annoys me... and being a rogue, the idea of not being able to click on an enemy, and move into attacking range is just bloody stupid.

Early on they can struggle a bit, but once you have a few abilities to generate sufficient guard and bring along a tank that can actually both tank and hold aggro, it's pretty straightforward. I finished the game on hard as a 2H warrior and I much preferred it to the mage I am currently playing as. I didn't even bother with using the Fade-Touched Obsidian (auto-generates guard), but that would be one way to make them more survivable if you were struggling. The only thing you need to watch out for is those fucking Despair demons and their ice beam, and a few similar boss attacks that will strip your guard almost instantly. But that's why you point the tank at them.
That said, the AI is absolutely useless with 2H warriors though, something to keep in mind if you plan on bringing along Iron Bull (and speccing him 2H as intended) on higher difficulties. You're probably better off not bothering with a companion 2H.

If you're playing 2H, for the love of god use the Charge ability. It generates guard AND closes gaps. It really is a must have, and on Dragon fights, when they jump around to use the breath attacks, it's the most awesome thing ever.
