Doesnt everything runs better with Win 8.1? |
nope, usually there is no difference between win7 and 8, but for some reason frostbite engine works better on win8, that's why i wonder if it's the same in this game as well.

I made the leap to 8.1 as well. I'm using classic shell. The only part I dislike is how it handles multiple monitors.

Running around Redcliffe, this is one of the most demanding spots I could find. 1080p everything maxed out inc. MSAA. As one can see, GPU utilization isn't maxed out but FPS is below v-sync limit. Any single GPU would certainly max out GPU utilization at that spot on those settings though. |
On that same very spot, with my R9 290 and 2500K, at 1080p with everything maxed out, except no AA and 120% resolution scaling, I am getting 40FPS with 100% CPU and GPU load. Both under Mantle and DX11.
Reducing resolution scale to 100% gave me additional 10 FPS.
Dropping to 80%, gave yet another 10 FPS.
Adding +40Mhz to my GPU core gave me 4 FPS.
Seems that I am purely GPU bound at this location.
Then again, on Mantle, my CPU is usually stays under 100%, but on this location it goes full 100%
EDIT: Checked more under DX11:
100% resolution scale gives me 4-5 FPS.
80% makes no difference in FPS and GPU load becomes unstable (spiking all over from 30% to 100%)
Going by that, it seems it's the same old DX11/Driver overhead issue we need dem low-level APIs for.
Nvidia GPUs should scale better under DX11 than my Radeon though.

That's the beauty of the multi-platform era. EA has been reluctant to push patches separately on the PC in the past and certification takes a shitload of time for both MS and Sony.

Well, if people are waiting for control changes, balancing tweaks and other gameplay changes, than this can take a while all by itself. More work, more testing.

8.1 64x since released, no regrets at all
Classic Shell on it. |

I switched back once to Win 7 x64 and it was slow, you could feel the difference !
But i must admit that Win 7 is still a solid system and prolly will be, it did for sure well better than Win 8 !

Adaptive Vsync is an option for Nvidia cards. Enables Vsync at 60fps and disables it once under 60. Im using it.

@sabin1981: I'm getting 30-45 fps with the settings below. With your card (780GTX right?) you should be able to pull it off easily if my HD7970 can do it. I'm not using Mantle btw.

MinderMast, what app are you using for the fan speed of your graphics card?

Yeah, that's GPU-Z, although pretty much any proper monitoring software should show you GPU fan speed. Afterburner will let you control it as well, for example.
As for AMD bias in the game - under DX11 it's not really that apparent. I get capped at around 45 FPS as well when it hits the CPU bottleneck in large crowded areas. I can only get proper scaling under Mantle when that happens.
I suspect this will be the norm until DX12 hits.

Sabin is another proof that this game is probably even bigger performance fail than ACU, I mean seriously official minimum and recomended req are way below sabin pc and this is bullshit.
i5 6600 + Silentiumpc Spartan Pro, Asus H170-plus mobo, HyperX 16 GB DDR4 2133MHz, Asus GTX 970 Strix OC, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, BeQuiet L8 500W, Zalman Z9 case, crap monitor
