I found one ladder that caused me to slide through the world and have to restart.
To be fair, I didn't bother sliding down every single ladder in the game, but I did slide down quite a few and didn't have any problems besides that one.

Solid port. Shame about lighting being downgraded.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

For me it looks very much like copy & paste from DS1 with the new setting.

souls games have better story than 90% of the crap released nowadays, its just not spoonfeed to the player, and that apparently is a problem for some, lol.
KillerCrocker wrote: | double click for strong attack ?!?!?! How can one play like that |
its the same as in previous one (with fix) - you can play it that way or play it the way that game was ment to be played = with gamepad.
paxsali wrote: | deadpoetic wrote: | Same world, but many years after Dark souls 1 |
Not even that. It's allegedly the same "universe", but you don't see no same/similar place from DS1, AFAIK. |
why you responded to that if you clearly know shit and you didnt play the game?

What I find worrisome though is the fact that nobody mentions mouse controls, which is the #1 priority for me. The future DSMfix will improve everything (eventually), but it ain't exactly the same thing. Guess we'll have to wait for Dark Souls 3 to have that too, them Jap devs are slow learners. |
they talked about it in 1h quick look - its working now, you can control menus with mouse(for some reson mouse stays in centre of the screen) and M+K controls is working , but from what i saw the keybinding looks weird (double clicks for hard attack , but might be matter of getting used to it and its fully customizable) , only thing i dont like is that xbox button prompts stays |
Thanks, this is something that mods couldn't do, so it's a step into the right direction. All the derpbox icons can be removed eventually, it ain't a big issue.
The vanilla mouse sensitivity can be fixed too, I mean.. it can't be worse than DS1.
*My body is almost ready*

While I loved both games, let's be serious. They don't really have a plot. There's a bit of worldbuilding and lore given through loading screens and a few cryptic lines from NPCs but you can't really call that a plot. It's "a bit of context" at best, imho.

Plot is not the same as story. Souls games has a very clear story, but a very thin plot. To avoid spoilers to 2, I'll use Dark Souls 1 as an example.
In 1, you are an undead who was tricked into rekindling the flame that would extend the dying era. That's the story. It has a plenty of depth to it, because of the lore behind it. Why are you doing this, who is tricking you, why are they tricking you, etc. That's the lore.
The plot on the other hand is very simple. You go ring two bells to gain access to Anor Londo in order to gain the Lord Vessel. With it, you can offer the Lord Souls in order to open the door to the Flame. You rekindle the Flame (or not). This is the plot of Dark Souls 1. The plot itself is very simple and straight forward. It is merely there to guide the player to progress the game. The story is what's interesting. Lore are there to support the story, they are not "a bit of context". The story is the context for the game.

thats the problem with gamers nowadays, years of spoonfeeding every game mechanic/detail and you cant even connect simple facts together to create something more out of it.
thats the same reason why souls games got that "difficulty" myth around them.

That's what I meant. There is backstory, if one cares to piece it together, but the plot itself is paper-thin at best.

Connect as you will, you can't conjure content out of thin air, no matter what amount of speculation and deduction you put in. You can get a vague outline of what's going on, but what I meant is that there isn't a proper narrative or plot. Even with every bits and pieces fleshed out and tied together with speculation you wouldn't come up with more than a couple of pages of prose if you had to narrate what's going on. Compare that to games like The Witcher or anything from BioWare (just examples) and you see what I mean.
And again, I'm not dissing the DS games, I liked them much more than anything Bioware released in decades . But not for the story to be honest. Gameplay and atmosphere is where it's at with DS games imho.
