http://store.steampowered.com/app/237430 game released a week ago

so was reading someplace how good this game is, very atmospheric with good dialogues, complicated combat and some cool features; anyone played it, some opinions? from the pics looks pretty good and im in the mood for a game with this type of combat; plus the setting seems very appealing to me, and it doesnt have armies which i kinda hate in this genre Very Happy

here's some review

Play it if you haven't yet, it's really good. Graphics are a bit meh, but the amount of c&c and general awesomeness make up for it. Lots of morally ambigious choices, interesting quests, an enjoyable battle system, what's there not to like? If you want you can have a company comprosed of pious racists, open-minded adventurers , cautious pacifists or a mix of all of them ( but then trying to keep everyone's spirit up is pretty hard ).

Just remember, it's a gigasntic timesink. Reminded me a lot of Heroes 3 and the "just one turn more, then I get breakfas...lun...ok, supper...WTH, it's dawn again?"

My advice-

Ya this game is great for what it does. Normal is way to easy tho, so crank it up if you a pro tactical player (its alot more fun when your team gets injured etc and the game is not that replayable for me).
I actually think the graphics are very good, but then again in this genre your just happy when it does not look like lego.

This game gives me the "Lost Patrol" feeling and thats high praise - plus its made a few kilometers from where I live Smile

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

I got towards the end and encountered a game breaking bug. Other than that it's a pretty good game but a bit repetitive.

Ya very repetitive towards the end, which is a shame because I would have wanted to play it again, with different soldiers and choices, but dont think I will.
I am happy to report no bugs for me in my finished game (bunch of agressive, proud, racists Smile that Taino chick was at morale 1, while most others where at a rock solid 25), and there is a patch out btw.

Edit: Different setting, but with the same kind of tactical combat; Legends of Eisenwald will be out in a couple of months.

Tried the game 1-2 weeks ago for about 1 hour. But found it pretty bad and not really fun.
But maybe i just was not in the mood for the game..

Wanted to rob a native camp. But they dominated my pike/rifleman with their clubs and blow pipes. It was the point for me to rage uninstall Rage

Ranged weapons are garbage in this game, stick to melee scouts and soldiers in battles.

2 (or 3) Scouts and 4 (or 3) Soldiers with pikes. Surround with the ultra mobile Scouts and kill the natives one by one. Pretty soon natives die by 2 strikes with enough equipment in weapons. Works fine on insane also.

I loved this game...played like 30 hours and enjoyed almost every minute of it.
Although I hated the 6 vs 6-12 fights. Why oh why can't I use everyone? Very Happy

I went for peaceful play through. Had my team consisting of pious, courageous, racist and greedy followers. In the end if someone wasn't all that happy with my choices,I just gave them more food. Laughing

something interesting Smile

Well everyone, we did it!

The Expeditions: Conquistador Kickstarter is done, the game is out, and all the rewards have been sent out!
Some Lessons Learned:

Regarding Kickstarter we setup our project after spending some time looking at what other game devs had done before us but nothing can compare to the lessons we learned about exclusive content when it comes to making games.

1. Give everyone a Beta Key. After reviewing our experience, and with the feedback from a number of backers, we can strongly recommend that you give all backers access to a beta key for your game. As a small team, it is difficult to get enough feedback pre-release regarding the user’s experience. We feel that you can’t have too much user feedback when it comes to making games and so for those of you out there working in small teams that are looking to kickstart a game the backers are incredibly helpful and passionate about the games they back. Let them help you!

2. Give exclusive in-game content, but only for a limited time. Backers, we know you love that juicy exclusive content! But it makes everyone else sad, and a bit jealous. Ultimately what we want to avoid as devs is exclusive in-game boosts. What we have learned is that this additional content was very cool. So for Kickstarter Devs, giving backers early access instead of completely exclusive assets might be a way to keep the general gaming community (non-backers) from feeling alienated.

3. Constant and Consistent Communication is key. We think that a bi-monthly or weekly update about the different trials of the project could be very valuable, not just to interested backers but to act as a developer diary of sorts, where we was devs can go back and be reminded of the different trials of development. We also think that this update should be performed by various members of the development team based on their role in the development.
What we have Achieved:

1. For our first PC title we are extremely proud of the current 77/100 Meta Score and user score of 8.3/10 on Meta Critic.

2. 30+ hours of Gameplay and the completion of a number of our KS stretch goals, even though we didn’t hit the stretch.

3. This has also allowed us to increase the size of the development team to 12 people which gives us a great deal more flexibility in our development process, and we have begun working on new projects. We’ve already got them in the pipeline, so you will be seeing more games released from us here at Logic Artists in the next few years.
Kudos:

Kudos to you backers! All that stuff we just wrote about in the update and more is thanks to you folks believing in our idea. We could not have done it without your support not just your donations but also all of the helpful comments and suggestions you have shared with us, both here and on the forums!

Props to their dev team. They ironed the bugs, got a solid product out and supported in a great way. Not bad for a newcomer. Shame that the sales weren't bigger, because they counted on those to deliver an expansion. But, still a great achievement, delivering a polished product. Bigger companies can learn from this guys.

its pretty epic, lots of micro management, rpg touches, great writing and even choices.

Its like a hardcore version of the recent kings bounty reboots.

Yeah, sry man Embarassed

I did see a locked campaign in the menu is that the expansion?

I've already played 7 hours in 2 days, game is addictive as hell.

The little stories that happen between the chars are just freaking amazing.

Haven't had anyone die yet, but i had 3 occasions already where I could have kicked out one member from the group.
One bitch was stealing our suplies. and i caught her and now she washes toilets forever.

After that her morale rose by 4 Laughing

She was like, thank you lord for the kindness LOL

I also made sure that all of my crew were non religious and non racist when picking them.

Until I caught one of my doctors was secretly practicing druidry.. told him to keep it in the closet and let him stay Very Happy

what a game men.
