|
 |
Ive been gaming pc for 4 years now on a LCD Sony KDL40V3000 60 Hz, first Sony that came with Full HD and i am about to buy a new tv set. I am wondering which one to buy if Samsung UN46ES8000 LCD or Panasonic 50GT50 Plasma. I dont have much choices where im from. Playing games in my old Sony like medal of honor warfighter or battlefield 3 wont notice any input lag when i press keys , but maybe is because i have adapted to it and really dont see the difference. Will there be any difference at all on smoothingness or response time if i invest on either of these 2 sets? I really dont know much thats why im starting this thread. Any feedback will help a lot.

From what I read, the Samsung models have awful viewing angles, as well as the "smart" software is ridiculously awful. So if color uniformity and precision is important to you, I wouldn't take the Samsung.

yep that i found early today doing some research, about the viewing angle pro for Panasonic. I am not waiting for Oled tho must wait 3 years or so to see how it evolves. I really dont know much about plasmas or if the gt50 will do any difference compared to the old sony lcd of 60 hz

anyways theres got to be a difference in input lag or any other thing, im just so adapted to 60 hz and never tried any other model, so im doing the blind folded jump over the niagaras.
I also own gtx 580 on sli.

I dislike Plasma technology generally, so you won't hear me ever say "get that instead of LCD". But I think a LED IPS panel, like the other thread, is best solution for now.

Series 8 is nothing like the lower series in the Samsung series. But they're pricey as hell.

What I said was specifically about the ES8000 models.

im not buying a plasma monitor only for one game but can imagine how Aliens Colonial marines would look on a plasma set with good deep blacks and stuff , oh and dead space 3, or maybe there wont be any difference at all with the ips led, who knows.

since i'm NOT going to spend a cent on the new 4K Sony TVs (who would?,Kim DotCom? ) i'm gonna ask something:
1.Will there be new ,40" Sony TVs that are better than the 40HX750 and 40H850 soon or later?
2.Wich's better?,SONY or SAMSUNG? (we actually own Sony TVs (20,22,40"s and no probs for now)..since i wanna upgrade by the end of this year my 22" TV to a 40" one (was considering the 40HX750 due to it's 900$ tag)
3.Any other alternatives/suggestions?...We have LG,Samsung and Sony and Panasonic over here at job...
ASUS X570 TUF GAMING PLUS, 32GB DDR4@2666 ,RYZEN 5800X3D (NO OC),GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Super GAMING OC, Western Digital Blue 4TB 5400RPM + SAMSUNG 860 EVO 500+1TB GB SSDs , OEM SATA DVD 22xNoctua NH-D15 Chromax Black, BenQ XL2420T Case: Be Quiet! DARK BASE PRO 901. PSU CORSAIR RM1200 SHIFT

i have 2 sonys right now, one is kdl55nx817 which i bought last year and picture quality is very good 240 hz motion flow, and the old sony kdl40v3000 which was the first sony to come up with full hd that was back 4 and half years ago and gaming in it is quite good, starting to have dead pixels on left bottom but it hasnt break yet. I cant tell you about other brands because i havent owned any yet. But yes Sony is name brand and is good option. Today im going to make my mind for the tv that will replace sony. Oled will be available with more options next year so i wont wait.
is either ips led or plasma thats it.

Samsung is way expensive and picture bleeding, philips has good response times no imput lag, panasonic has ips technology on leds and have plasmas, lg has good feedback from many people and are afordable, we dont have toshiba here, and sony is competing with samsung.

My cousin actually bought a brand new Samsung TV (not sure which type) about 3 weeks ago, with all the 3D and Smart crap. The Smart is just as bloaty and spastic as their phones, I'm sure some people like it, I didn't. Other than that the display seemed quite oversaturated as well, just like their phones.
The 3D? I'm no fan of 3D in general, it just doesn't wow me like it does other people, but what I am sure about now is that never, ever am I going to get 3D with active fucking shutters. I could very, very clearly see the flickering and it was annoying me after about 2 minutes.
All in all I wasn't impressed.

It seems I'll be stuck with my tube-telly until we have true LEDTV's, ie. where each pixel is an actual LED. Will take 5-10 years before the prices are low enough on those to make them affordable but quality should be amazing.

I don't even own a TV but my folks bought one of those " Smart " Samsung machineries (46") and believe me, I've tried to tune up the colour settings for 20 minutes without finding a decent result. xD I don't know if it's the back-illumination or the contrast which are out of control, but something doesn't seem right, it all looks "unnatural". And yes, the 3D is a gimmick (surprise surprise )

Samsung has the most annoying problem ever... Its pure lottery what panel you get (even if you buy some specific model), it can have like 3 different panels.

Image retention is also a considerable issue on Panasonic plasma's, especially when playing games with a HUD. I'm very happy with my ST50 though, but never use it for gaming.
