lol! Well then you'll love it, since the mod doesn't even allow you to select the level of difficulty. Stalker wannabes are not welcomed here, it's only for tough veteran Streloks! xD

I just bought Metro 2033 on steamsale. Play Metro or Stalker with mods first? I finally have a PC that can run stalker Smile

Btw - are there any mods that expand on the RPG elements? That was one thing i felt was a bit missing in the game.

Play Metro first, it's shorter and more linear, which means you'll finish it quicker and then be left to really put time and effort into the (huge!) world of STALKER.

So changing the difficulty in the menu does nothing for Misery?

I tried to lower it from the highest setting because I was getting my ass kicked in the beginning. I guess it was a placebo effect because I immediately started doing much better.

I feel better now. I had played the other Stalkers on the highest difficulty and felt kind of lame that I couldn't handle this one at first.

One complaint I have about Misery, though, is how tough the zombies have gotten. I respect that the mod is trying to make things harder but seeing a single zombie kill three Duty members armed with assault rifles and grenades (one of which is wearing an exoskeleton) is kind of disappointing. It's a cheap way to increase difficulty, in a game and a mod that otherwise does difficulty in a fun way. I read that Misery 2.0 will make zombies easier to kill with headshots, though. I don't mind having to put more bullets into them, since they're zombies and don't feel pain. However, I have literally fired several bullets from an assault rifle, a pistol, then pointblank with a shotgun, to a zombie's face and he was still walking.

It is a bit old but it seems they are still looking for voice actors. I think I am gonna send it (Scientist NPC) although my English is Boratlike and my voice sounds so generic. At least my eastern european accent is authentic Smile

I'm not 100% sure about the difficulty settings to be honest, they're still there but the devs stated that there's only one available by default (master). I've never changed it since it's fine for me, but I'll make some tests out of curiosity as soon as I have some time. Smile I'm also waiting for the patch to be released..that should fix a lot of known issues and improve several annoyances, sadly it's quite m.i.a. at the moment. Razz

Made me play the game for 2 months straight, it's absolutely massive. But from reading the thread on the steam forum it seems I was quite lucky since I didn't have any severe or game-breaking bugs.

I found it really really good, but the poor english translation ruined some of the quests so badly that I needed to search that thread for clues.

Of course they are. They're one of the best, pure PC gaming experiences that gaming has to offer. GSC was the undisputed master of atmosphere with these games.

Really isn't any other open ended FPS out there that doesn't suck. I tried going back to Deus ex but the guns in that game give me a stroke. Shoot a guy in the head 10 times and he doesn't go down. Machine gun? gotta mod the piss out of it just to get it to be worth it.

Outside STALKER, really...what else is there? lol

I'm hearing a lot about that Lost Alpha.

Holy shit though, I mean I know it's got a lot of Bloom going on here instead of the dark gritty pallet they should be using but you can tell the textures are baller. The vegetation looks great!

On paper, Lost Alpha sounds great. But what's the actual REAL state of the mod? Is it playable?
