Issue is the following:

My current mouse is Cyborg R.A.T. 7 and it's polling rate is 1000hz(dynamic). Now...since I started using Nvidia surround,I have experienced mouse lag with some older games. In this case Dark messiah and Red alert 3 for example.

I have googled a bit and noticed it has something to do with the 1000hz polling rate. By lowering it to 125hz the games work fine(tested with a friends mouse). Haven't tested 500hz since R.A.T. 7 doesn't allow modifying the polling rate.

I know it can be changed manually, but you also could risk breaking your USB port while doing it( plus I'm lazy Very Happy ).

So,to the point then. I need a new mouse with the ability to change polling rate via the mouses software. What would be the best mouse in this case?
I heard Razer has this support for all their mouse products,is that true?

I could also buy a cheap ass 125hz mouse and use it when I want to play older games. Very Happy

Need your help guys. Razz

I know for sure (because I have one) that Logitech mice give you full control over report rate (if it's the same as polling rate).

Here's a screenshot from my G300's software, but every more advanced than entry level mouse, including the very popular G400, should have that.

My vote goes to the Logitech Darkfield Smile Love it. Maybe not a gaming mouse per-say but it's very comfy in the hand.

G500 is still my choice. Fuck Razer, I've never seen any mouse from that seems like it'll last more than 3 months, such flimsy builds.

Moved on from my Deathadder 3.5 (great build, but the weird stuff they treated the mouse buttons with wore away a bit too much to my liking). Just got a Logitech G400, and it does use the same software that Raccoon posted a screencap of up there ^

It's got a decent amount of customisation, and the Logitech software doesn't seem to have a huge memory imprint (I always felt the Razor software lagged a little at times, but maybe that was just me).

One thing I will say about it is that it's currently giving me a little cramp with my ring finger and pinkie, but I do have very long fingers, so bear that in mind.

my g400 have it set at 500 by default and mouse acceleration on.

Isnt it cpu taxing to switch it yo 1000 ? I cant feel any difference myself

Yeah it does effect little bit of cpu, it is more noticeable on low end cpu-s. Polling rate is how many times your mouse is sending commands to computer. At 1000 the lag between commands is 1ms, at 125 it is 8ms. So between 500 (2ms) and 1000 it may not be so noticeable anymore, but you should feel difference between 125 and 1000 for sure, especially in fps games where response time matters between click/movement and what is happening on screen.

Well, if Logitech Gaming Software is used only to set up the On-Board profiles of your mouse, after making sure everything works the way you like it, the software itself can then be completely uninstalled without any harm. Mouse doesn't need it anymore and will load everything from its internal memory.

 Spoiler:

LGS is only required when the software profiles are being used, i.e. "Automatic game detection" is enabled.

That's really cool... I couldn't do that with my Deathadder. Very Happy Still playing with the DPI setting though. Sad
