Fuck modern gaming. It's conceived by money-grabbing little cunts who are happy to violently rape beloved gaming series and leave them bleeding and weeping in a dark cold alleyway just to produce a new ugly autistic bastard child for the general public to stare at and forget about. Fuck them all and I hope they develop explosive testicular cancer.

fuck modern gamers. These fucktards are more than happy to keep throwing money hand over fist to developers, reinforcing their beliefs that mainstream simple game-making and shitloads of overpriced and content-light dlc is what the people want and are happy to play. Fuck them all and I hope they develop boneitis

I find it curious KC used only generally accepted modern games in his example.

Yep, fuck'em all equally. Skyrim is just basically broken, Max Payne 3 doesn't even let me play the game and Alan Wake is a retarded shadow of what it originally set out to be.

Alan Wake is actually a pretty decent example.
I was interested in Alan Wake way back when there was a trailer with a tornado and them explaining how quad core pcs would be used to make all that possible. And it looked awesome.
And then it went to the consoles because.. money.
It turned out to be a decent game, but how long did it take them to make the pc port?.. Yup, almost 2 years. Only when the console version can be picked up in a discount bin. Where I got mine for 7,50 or something, cause thats all they deserve for making me hope. Just like Bungie and the crap they pulled with the first Halo.

One more who believes in this bullshit...
Witcher 2 and Divinity 2, two kickass games that AFAIK cost less overall less than $8M to make and (probably) advertise.
herpaderpa 'murican produced "AAA" games sure, although that's more poor management than anything else IMO (like BF3... $60M blown in advertising and that was just BEFORE it's release, or SWTOR's ridiculous budget).

ofcourse modern games are so expensive, somebody needs to pay all those international assistant managing QA director-vice president localization project managers of marketing strategy and public relations departments
take 30min of your time and watch some Ubisoft game credits then you know what I mean

But that also includes creating the engine behind TW2 pretty much from scratch... think about it

After some extremely dark years I'm feeling that 'modern gaming' is fortunately taking (or trying to take) a right direction, at least on PC, and that is thanks to Kickstarter, Indie Gaming and developers with some dignity left.
The constant streamilization process is obviously still very common though, (mostly in AAA games) so you either try to adapt (like I'm doing, quite successfully) or just focus on the niche side of gaming.
As for dumb games (and gamers), massive DLC policy, awesome buttons and franchises going to the dogs..well there's not much to do. These are like a cancer that will always be present, but as long as it stays "isolated" I can live with that..sort of.
