I like when game has a good story... And SotSE has no story. So I'll pass...

one of the few RTS that i liked to play online. Too bad it was such a hassle with the patches.

No I think it was mostly cgi, there are several in-game videos from the beta though:

Love GalCiv2 and Homeworld, i usually love anything with space, but SoaSE i could never get into for some reason, gameplay/story was completely uninteresting as far as i got. Bought it because of all the 9/10 reviews, but to me it seems like it's a highly overrated game.

I actuually liked Sotse, especially with the expansions, and am looking forward to this. It's certainly not as good as homeworld2 or galciv, but still fun.

Loved the original. Great depth and really fun to play online, level up your ships and engage in huge battles. Nothing better than waiting on your fleet to warp into an enemy system Very Happy

I felt the same way, but to be honest, i was expecting something similar to GalCiv. SoaSE is totally different and mostly made for MP. Its completely combat oriented but i wanted to build up my empire, improve planets etc.

Actually they should make GalCiv3!

Yeah, i think it's one of their most successful games, so i'm not sure what's keeping them now when they're finished with Elemental.. Maybe they've started but havent announced it yet.

SoaSE is great fun with some friends just fighting against some hard AIs. There are some sizeable mods for it as well which expands the content quite a bit.

It's gonna be hard for them to outdo GalCiv2 with all the expansions. I really do hope they're making one though, that game was just epic.

They are occupied with Elemental: Fallen Enchantress which is currently in open beta state and is a huge improvement over Elemental: War of Magic but sadly is still an Elemental kind of game Sad

Jon Shafer is a lead on unannounced space project at Stardock.
