They have to do a Free Weekend at steam like payday, will gain some players and people could see how awesome the game is. |
Indeed, free weekend + Steam sale (-50% or even -66%) and BAM!, new players everywhere

There's going to be one at some point because Tripwire said so.
I just think it should've been a bit sooner to keep player numbers higher before no one cares to buy it anymore thinking the population is so low.

Problem with Tripwire is that they work so goddamn slow. Took them months to fix nearly gamebreaking bugs.
It doesn't help they refuse to do away with the archaic netcode either. Having to guess where to shoot depending on the server you're playing on ruins the game.

This week, starting from Monday, i resumed playing RO2 after 6 months of waiting. Things are improved, performance wise. Also, i found the G41 Sniper (yeah, the one with the miniscope) to be really bad ass once you get used to it. I leveled it in 2 days to lv. 15, going to 25 to get the 4x scope.

Quote: | Red Orchestra 2‘s GOTY Edition Free Content Pack represents Tripwire’s response to player feedback, and it seems like a truly comprehensive update to a game we already love.
To kick off the roll-out of the update later this week, Red Orchestra 2 will also be free to play on Steam this weekend, beginning on Thursday. |
Quote: | What’s in the update?
Mamayev Kurgan, a new multiplayer map lined with bunkers and trenches
“‘Action’ mode – Featuring a crosshair, easier aiming and toned down recoil, reduced damage and open access to a wide range of weaponry Action mode is the perfect first step for players into the world of Red Orchestra.”
“‘Classic’ mode blends the gameplay innovations of the new game with the tactical and edgy gameplay of the original giving the fans of the first game exactly what they want.”
Vehicle improvements, including a toning-down of AI tank accuracy
Machineguns are now “easier to use,” according to Tripwire
Performance improvements, including revamp of dynamic shadows, changes to UI rendering, map optimizations, and more
Optional client-side hit detection
Refinement of spawn-on-squad leader, spawn protection, overtime, and Lockdown
Red Orchestra 2 will be free to play on Steam beginning at 10 AM PST on Thursday, May 24 until Sunday, May 27. |

Game is already too easy if we compare it to RO1, and yet they dumbed it down with that derp "Action mode" |
Yeah..a desperate attempt to make it attractive for CoD fans
Thankfully we'll have the "classic" mode, which sounds great.

Bots in multiplayer are indeed a big problem that they do not seem to understand. Honestly I don't even know why they do it, it's not that with those (dumb) bots you're encouraging people to join..on the contrary, you basically make the few human players leave

I don't understand why 5 guys will play a particular map with 30+ BOTs and the same map on another server has 20 humans and 30+ BOTs and they don't go on that server, especially when the pings are similar. |
Many prefer bots for grinding - it's the easy way to unlock upgrades for the weapons. Example : in 2 days you can get the 4x scope for G41 sniper, and get rid of that damn miniscope.

Intel_NVIDIA wrote: | omg i so hate multiplayer games where it's possible to populate public servers with bots. i think UT did that and a few other games. spend minutes looking for decent server, join it, only to find that it's filled with generic named retarded bots. FUUU |
In UT3 There's a check box to filter unpopulated servers and that will also filter bot counts so you see true player counts.

So maybe the right time to buy the game has finally come? The price is really attractive for this weekend ($9.99). |
I'd say yes, but if you're not completely convinced there's always the free weekend

Good, if it's free for RO2 owners at least. Because I won't give TW any more money for this broken pile of shit and lies. RO1 shits all over RO2... especially DH. |
Lies? Explain please.
