So far we got only some kind of timer and the confirmation (via email to PC Gamer) that it's NOT a Facebook game. I'm really curious what will it be. Strategy in BattleTech universe would be awesome...

So not excited.

Which is a shame, really. HAWKEN would have been great as the MP side of things, with a proper campaign-based SP affair for Mech Warrior. Oh well, games just don't sell these days unless they're MP Sad

Their site is update, also here's new info (from NeoGAF):

It’s the year 3025. Hostile enemy lances are closing in all around you. As Commander of an elite mercenary company, it’s up to you to ensure swift victory and make your enemies pay dearly. Your Mech Bay hosts a vast array of custom Mechs, each configured for a specific combat role. Choose wisely which Mechs to take into battle: your future as the leader of your lances depends on it.

MechWarrior Tactics™ is a brand-new MechWarrior game set in the BattleTech® universe and includes everything you love about MechWarrior. MechWarrior Tactics is the latest evolution of turn-based strategy and blends tactical gameplay, deep collectability, and unique online features, and is set against visually stunning environments for the supreme MechWarrior battle experience. Players earn, collect, and purchase combat and aesthetic resources to outfit each Mech and prepare for the next online battle.

Game features:

• Collect, Customize, Command:
Earn Experience and new resources as you advance your level through gameplay
Upgrade and customize your Mechs in your Mech Bay
Make the most of each Mech’s unique configuration for total battlefield domination
• Customizable Mechs – seamless store integration means never having to leave the game to purchase and equip new resources for your next mission
• Asynchronous Combat: Multiple concurrent battles with players from around the world
• Competitive ranked games and global leaderboards lets the world know you’re in charge. Play for a chance to win larger, more meaningful reward payouts
• Watch and share your completed battle using a unique cinematic replay feature

MechWarrior Tactics will be available in 2012. More information about MechWarrior Tactics can be found at www.mwtactics.com.

Sounds like shit.
It's some lame turn based game (the game is lame, not the turn based part before someone has a nerd fit), where you'll pay to win.
It also sounds like there is no SP campaign.
"spiritual successor" to mechcommander my ass.

i would love to see a game that combined mechwarrior and battletech into a big strategy/rpg with the feel of the paper/dice versions (which were two separate games. mw was about the pilots and was more of a traditional rpg with skills and stats, and bt was the tactical miniatures based combat focused part. you could play them separately or combine them if you liked both rpgs and miniature based war gaming). the bt game on amiga was pretty close, but it was also quite boring from what i recall. from the bullet list of features on their site, this sounds like its just about the mechs and combat...

Since this is the thread for MW tactics you might want to qualify that you're talking about other games then.

That's fairly ambiguous.

Either way, MW tactics sounds like some microtransaction garbage.

Any way, to get this thread back on track ..

First screenies released! ^_^

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/mechwarrior-tactics-first-screenshots-released

Looks pretty good, though of course it is a browser game and will more than likely be pay-to-win, so I'm not all that interested in it.

wow, actually looks good. I'm not sure i like their FTP online 'premium' model but at least the gameplay doesnt look derped.

now they just need to make a mercinaries campaign for it. Smile

Then start one. They're two different games, mixing them together is only going to lead to confusion.

I always thought MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries was the best of the bunch, with MechWarrior 3 being second.
The fourth one was more of a arcade shooter than it was MechWarrior.

yes 4 lost me on the whole part slots... one of the great things about battle tech was taking out things like jump jets if you didn't need them and putting in more weapons or armor.

I am still wishing for a new MechCommander game. The first one was amazing. The second one was pretty meh. If they can take the first game and continue from there story wise and update the graphics then i will definately jizz my pants. Why do they have to make MechWarriors all the time. Yes this is turn based so it is a step in the right direction but it doesnt have a proper singleplayer storyline...
