Actually, upon further testing it seems "stitches" are present with any value of "vt_maxAniso" above 1 (on my system at least). With a value of 2 I was able to notice (not visible on screenshot, only in the movement) a very slight aliasing on the girls neck collar, where the "stitch" would be with higher "vt_maxAniso" value. The higher the value of "vt_maxAniso" the more "stitches" appear, visible even on the screenshots:

So I'd say the dafault value of 2 for "vt_maxAniso" is a good value actually.

did anyone complete this yet? i just reached subway town at 9hours of gameplay and the resistance are talking about all the stuff beeing in my garage and the town above us etc which makes it sound like ive still got quite awhile to go.

all the reviews kept mentioning the END coming out of nowhere after 9 hours so im wondering if the reviewers didnt get to see all of the game as it would make sense if there copies of the game ended as you leave the back edit of the bar

id Software founder and programming legend John Carmack has just given a bold statement that may not pleased consoles gamers. He said, "one of the larger mistakes" he made with RAGE was allowing consoles to have an equal place in development alongside the PC. Pffchh
But of course, how could he knew that it would turn out like this? Cool Face

Without the MP component and "Megatexture" folder the game is a little below ~3 GB, blu-ray with the SP and MP at say 5 GB and the megatexture using 40 - 45 GB and this would likely have been the sharpest game released this year, hell knows if that would actually have worked to stream on current console hardware though. Razz
(And yes ~40 GB textures is a bit extreme but it would have looked really pretty, wouldn't affect gameplay or anything though, heh.)

I have noticed the same, which is the reason it's disabled by id. But 4x gives nice results, and it was in one of their presentations that technically it's doable, so that's what I use.

Well - I wasn't even gonna bother with this with all the slating it's had but I thought wtf and just downloaded it anyway.

I ran it as is in my native 1680x1050 - just booted it up and changed nothing except AA which I cranked up to 8x cos it did look jagged. Yeah there's a bit of texture popping but nothing enough to distract me. Other than that the graphics look fuckin' great to me - the game runs butter smooth.

Yep it's a corridor shooter but the atmosphere is nice. I played the first 20mins and I'm pleasantly surprised (after the complaints etc.). I read that it's only short as a game but I was gonna buy a Russian key for a tenner (15 bucks) and for that I definitely would have been happy. It seems a bit daft now I grabbed the skiddie version and it works unless someone can tell me the co-op is absolutely must have.

Maybe I have problems to come later on down the line that others have already experienced but if this continues as it's started then I'd be giving the game 8/10 and even 9 (based on Russian prices). The short campaign would drop the score if I paid what some others have done for it.

My rig is only so so as well btw - WIndows 7 32bit, Q6600 @stock 2.4GHz, nvidia 250gts 1Gb, 3Gb ram. Like I say - I tinkered with nothing and I guess some might not be happy with what I'm looking at - I might be able to crank up the quality even more but I'd not be bothered if I couldn't.

No, 15 points per race category Human Steel and usually three categories for each event. Smile
(5 for bronze, then if you take silver you get another five thus ten total, gold gives 15, you'll see a little mark in the check-box field showing how you passed.)

You do however get one point for each bandit you kill. Smile
(Apparently there's more than one person offering this but Sally at the Wellspring city Second Chance bar offers this fairly early on although if you rely on this to upgrade the cars fully - buggy classes share parts aside from paints if you do have the rat-rod DLC buggy via the anarchy edition - however the Cuprino vehicle uses it's own parts so it becomes quite a grind.)

Something else to test then, I used near terrain in Wellspring and distant terrain just outside near Dead City and only a few NPC's where this was really visible such as seams kinda cutting them in half before and 8 which I currently use solved all that but twelve worked as well (Forced 8 via CCC but also set in-game, image_af set to 16) but it's something to test out more from what you said.

I dunno - It's only what I've read and so did you Laughing

Some are saying they take their time and get more but I woulda liked 30-40 hours myself.

Wasn't there a post earlier with subway town being the last hub very near the end of the game.
(Along with reviews saying it ended rather abruptly.)

EDIT: Still it is a shooter and ID gave 15 hours as a average estimation.
(So more skilled players would likely get that down to ~10 or just below.)

Rage.bat

rage.exe +seta com_allowconsole 1 +seta com_SkipIntroVideo 1 +seta mem_phymemblocksizem 1024

(Still don't know if that memory value does much, set it at half system RAM //EDIT: Halved that // but I think a value of 256 - 512 are more than enough.)

zsettings.cfg

 Spoiler:

cvaradd g_triplef_nofail 1
cvaradd g_triplef_pottymouth 1

Those two might trigger the anti-cheat warning (achievements disabled because the console was used, large red warning screen shown every time a area is loaded.) and r_swapinterval can be removed to have it back to the soft-lock default or changed to 1 in order to enforce full vsync. Smile

(Console and the command exec zsettings.cfg at the main menu before pressing continue, most reliable way to have them loaded though vehicle_1.cfg loads just before then so a exec command can be added to that file as well, or the commands directly.)

EDIT: Might as well change it down to 1024 instead of 2048 for that cache MB value.

Thanks, that's what I wanted. I only use the ragaconfig.cfg now, but I wanted to test some other ways too and didn't really understand how you did it.

I was picturing a ~15 to ~17 year old console player with the game set to easy difficulty. Razz
(Then again apparently nightmare is seen as quite easy as well even in the console section and the thread for this game there.)

JB, why do you use the skip intro command for example 3 times? I think there are others that you've used more times too.

DarkRohirrim, under rage.bat the "+seta com_SkipIntroVideo 1" is set to ensure it loads early and can skip the intro videos, same for the console command cvar.

Also duplicted into zsettings.cfg for convenience and then cvar add is used to actually get the value to change.

But yes that's a bit of a weird thing to do as it should be +cvaradd com_skipintro 1" in the bat file directly. Smile

(I also changed the actual .bik video to a 2KB 0sec black screen alternative just to be sure it's gone, heh.)

EDIT: This is just because it's a locked CVar and does not change by normal means other than cvarAdd as a override.

Now I'll just wait for you to say that the PC version of RAGE has had as much work put into it as DX: HR had, right?

No, but DX:HR is the exception to the rule these days. Something like Portal 2 or DX:HR has obviously gotten more love on the PC by its developers and it shows. Still, Rage isn't the shit port done by third grade third party developers, people make it to be. It's not Saints Row 2 or Red Faction Guerrilla quality. Because these two games were faulted to the core and new drivers did nothing to fix them/speed them up (or slow them down, as RFG ran FASTER than it should and it took them months to fix it)

AFAIK December 2010's Stranger's Wrath Xbox port STILL has rendering artifacts on AMD hardware; that shows you the state of AMD's OpenGL drivers (also think of the issues Brink had (has?) on AMD, while many of them could be the result of developer incompetence, something is fishy when the 3 most recent OpenGL titles experience major issues *only* on AMD hardware, while most DX titles work about the same on either brand).

EDIT: Age 60+, 60 people or more is rare in it's own though. Very Happy

EDIT: Oh right I don't know your actual age.
(Maybe I'm just biased though, "50+ horny like 17" is a best-seller in the local magazine/porn shop and the entire series has it's own display case.)

I see... Any reason why you removed "seta fc_maxcachememoryMB 256" from your cfg?

Also, "mem_phymemblocksizem 512" only works with cvaradd from what I understand from the game's console. I'll post my tweaks after I finish, I just need to sort them out.
