I sometimes wonder if it was because I was a child and saw the movies several times at the theater. But the older I get the more I think it was the quality that kept those names there. For instance: There are people in real life I have seen 30 times or more and I still don't remember their names cause they just aren't "remarkable".
6:50 If you have never seen this do yourself a favor. It is pure genius!
Blurb: AvP Movies weren't for me and Alien 3 was a great film.
Yes. I quoted myself to move this page. Fukin Sue me.

Only two reasons to watch Alien Resurrection; Winona Ryder ("She's so severely fuckable, ain't she?") and Ron Perlman ("Johner, you son of a bitch!") The story itself was a damned travesty and... pseudo Alien Ripley? Give me a fucking break. They even retroactively edited the ending of Alien 3 just so the plot of Alien 4 would make ANY kind of sense at all. In the original, theatrical AND director's cut versions of Alien 3; the queen bursts out of Ripley at the end and Ripley grabs it as she's falling into the vat of steel .... in the new revisions of the film, the queen never bursts out.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the "new" Assembly Cut of Alien 3, especially on the Blu-ray anthology, due to re-recording of the actor's lines, I just don't like this retroactive altering bullshit. The queen burst from Ripley, she died, you didn't "recover her DNA" and you didn't make a Drone Ripley. GTFOver it.

Yeah, but the Dr. in Alien 3 took blood samples of her in one of the scenes, so that explains the merged DNA ever existing. You knew that the Weyland-Yutani Corporation raided the prison at the end and of course found the blood samples.

I still say the entire plot, flimsy like paper as it was, in AR was just too much fluff. 200 years later, cloning Ripley and the Alien from a drop of preserved blood? Puhlease.

Hey, if Back to the Future II told us we could have flying cars in 2015, then it could be possible. Oh wait....
AVP2? Nah, the one before that was the worst. When the Predator gave the Alien tail as a spear and the head as a shield to the black chick, EVERYONE in the theater groaned.
The first one tried to be scary [wasnt ever scary anyway], but now it looks too slow paced and kind of boring. Also the acting is bad in some scenes. Aliens widthstood the test of time. Too bad J.Cameron doesnt make good movies anymore.

Just watched the first two movies, Alien and Aliens. Aliens was so much better, I don't understand why would anyone say that the first one is better.
The first one was scary for its time and the effects were good too. The chest bursting alien and Bishop's injuries were well done for the time. The scene with Dallas in the air ducts is worth its weight in gold. It was one of the best suspenseful scenes ever done in a movie imho.
The first Alien is one of the the best sci-fi movies ever created [along with Tarkovsky's Solaris and Kubrick's Space Odyssey]. Pure psychological terror with real special effects from the mechatronics pioneer Carlo Rambaldi. Adding to that mix one of the most disturbing surrealist of the 20th century [Giger] and one of the most prolific film music composer [Goldsmith] have to give a perfect combo.
The secon Alien is a solid action flick [unfortunately this one is also anti-capitalistic just like every Cameron movie]. Anyway, Aliens is called by many the best sequel of 20th century and I would agree with that.
Alien 3 made by Fincher is a decent psychological-thriller. After poor reception Fincher wanted to remove his name from the credits [which is the best comment on the movie quality].
Alien 4. I had high hopes for this one, mostly because it was directed by Jeunet [good director of very akward movies] and Pitof [decent special effects artist and director of even more akward movies]. I was hoping that Europeans will put some thought into this [instead of the usual Michael Bay's style explosions] but I was wrong. Alien 4 ended up as generic action movie with few interesting [but wasted] ideas.
I won't comment on the AVP movies, because they are an insult to my intellect.

Well I grew up with the second AvP game being my love from this universe and Aliens does exactly what I would want from a movie from this universe. Maybe that's why the first movie seemed very average to me. Just watched the third movie and it wasn't worse, it was pretty much the same thing as the first one for me. Now from what I understood now comes the truly horrible part from the franchise as I have to watch Resurrection.

The damn movie scared the shit out of me when I watched it first time. I was 13 then. The second one was The Thing, classic made by John Carpenter.
The Thing is obviously the best Carpenter's movie and one of the best in horror sci-fi genre. Even the first Predator was not that bad [although it was more action movie than a horror].
But unfortunately horror sci-fi genre died in the 80's.
Nowadays we got Michael Bay and his CGI idiocy for american teenagers.
And finished with the Alien movies. Resurrection wasn't that bad actually, it was just more cheesy, not so serious in some parts, but overall it was really enjoyable. I actually found it somewhat better than the third one which was just the first movie in another location.

I really really hope this doesn't turn into another Turok (aka generic first person shooter #15456823413214), but alas, this is the feeling I get from watching the gameplay videos. Just looks so fucking bland. And I don't mean the awful textures.
