What the hell were the dev's thinking when they created this class A hot steaming piece of shit of a game, I never felt more indifferent while playing a game then right now, and I'm the guy who thought DNF and Homefront were OK (considering the amount of $$$ I spent on it ).
I think its clear that all the money of the production went to pay John Carpenter for the live action trailer (which was the best part of the game and they didn't even include it in). |
The live action trailers were not directed by Carpenter.

I meant his consultation for the trailer (of course I don't really know if he get payed for that I just assumes so).

The last cinematic after the end credits reminded me of Tetsuo's pyschic burst from a scene of Akira. The similarity between him and Paxton Fettel is just uncanny, coupled with the fact that the long black haired scary girl persona belongs to Japanese ghost stories, the lack of originality of the whole FEAR franchise is quite obvious. No amount of outside help, even from the likes of John Carpenter, managed to result in something different evidently.

Fraps is disappoint with this game, that's where the blue comes from.
But seriously, just finished the 1st interval and it's miles better than that POS called Project OrigiDerp.
The cover system is kind of clunky at first but you can either get used to it or overlook it completely since the game is challenging but perfectly playable (so far... ).

Yup.
It's not as "smart" as in the first one, but at least it's very "aggressive" and "alive".

True, the AI behavior is probably a big part of the reason this game is actually fun to play. Combat is certainly less static than in most of the recent shooters. And the "arenas" offer just enough ways to get around to have the opportunity for flanking or getting surrounded. Still a bit on the small side though.
Also, it's too bad the melee doesn't feel as fluid as it did in the previous parts. Can't say exactly why, but it felt better in the original Fear.

Played it and they make it like those addons made by TimeGame for FEAR1 and they sequel made by Monolith FEAR2 never existed LULZ... but the story presentation and the gun fights , well the whole figthing mechanic with 4 melee attacks [kick when you jump, sliding kick when you run, knife when you attack from the back, weapon hit when you GO AT HIM] the sticky cover something like Killzone ... made me
for fuck sake i give it a 8,5/10
no really its that good, has it horror moments no ,even part 1 was weak anal scare
yes i finished in less then 4h they force you kinda to see the other version and get a other ENDING if you play as that glowing fuck [more like 3h 40 min playing as the point man]
but it was fun
would i buy it
fuck NO
would i play it as Ferell or what ever that red glowing fuck what called
No
but i compressed it to 2,5 gig and stored it ... the hacked co-op would be fun

Have you changed the Campaign option to "Replay Mission" as opposed to "Resume Game"?

So is the Skidrow release updated like the non-scene release?

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

wow I thought fettel would be entertaining to play as, the possession is flaky as fuck, sometimes it works but most of the time it doesnt,
you can pick up objects but you cant move them around, so the throw option is useless really, since you cant throw things in the direction you want, also you cant throw enemies youve picked up, wow its fucking lame.

Yes, FXAA might be written in DX11 for.. whatever reason instead of DX9 so I wonder if it's unavailable under dx9 for this game.
Also if 2x and 4x are MSAA, they might not be available in dx9 mode, if the engine is deferred.
Although their very big performance hit indicates to me they are likely SSAA modes instead of MSAA, so it's a possibility they are still available under dx9.
Dunno, I just wonder why is it a dx11 title.. I'm looking for any difference. Not that I complain, performance is ace.

Pretty sure it's for performance unless as might be very likely there is some other additions like specific implementation of FXAA.
Compatibility with MSAA could be another reason though if it is using deferred rendering I hadn't thought about that possibility.
(Which it could be but the shadow and lighting system seems a bit basic and artificial compared to a fully dynamic solution.)
Can't think of much else, tessellation and a number of techniques like parallax mapping or displacement mapping, SSAO and contact hardened shadows as it's called would have been useful to improve the visuals and the "flat" feeling of many models and areas, I'm sure there's a lot of other things also of course but I have no idea what they've done.
(I'll know when the files can be unpacked and I can check the shader data therein but it looks a bit problematic from what I've read about that effort.)
