Not to mess you up or anything, but I'd freak the hell out if I knew they would operate in my eye. Same when they implant you a new lens, you have to watch that shit while they operate in your eye... :/

But I hope everything goes well for you! Good luck! Smile

It's a routine operation. It'll be fine unless you're some unlucky bastard and the surgeon makes a big mistake. I did read that tests show nightvision diminishes a bit, but that was ~1 year ago.

Real blue laser diode (bluray if you will) is insanely expensive. And imo green is coolest Very Happy Most visible. Got a 200mW red and violet too, strong. But the beam isnt that visible. Espessally not the violet one.

your eyes will probably fall off in about 10-20 years

so you better enjoy your great sight during that time (if you survive the operation)

Very Happy

Good luck, matey! I envy you sir, I've been wanting to get laser-corrective surgery for a while now, but meh... even for the "low end" LAZIK treatment it's still £400+ per eye.

What are the disadvantages of LASIK surgery?

    * Because each patient will heal slightly differently, results may vary from patient to patient.

    * LASIK could make some aspects of your vision worse, including night vision with glare and halos.

    * LASIK may make dry-eye symptoms worse in certain individuals.

    * In rare circumstances, LASIK can make your vision worse and not correctable with regular glasses or contact lenses.

after reading more about what laser surgery does to our eyes ,well the only serious draw back is after 5 or more years you will be forced to take eye drops for the rest of your life , your eyes will have problems with adjusting its sensitivity to light [going from a dark room to a light one , the halos or imprints of light will stay longer] and that your eyes will tire more [hurt when you use them too much]

Btw none of the above posted pictures of lasers are real. You can't see the beam unless you're directly looking into the beam and that can cause a second blind spot. Laughing

Hmm well you need particles like water vapour or dust in the air to scatter the beam like that unless air molecules can have the same effect, perhaps dingo_d can shed some light.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_pointer

Quote:

Some higher-powered laser pointers project a visible beam via scattering from dust particles or water/fog droplets along the beam path. Higher power and higher frequency lasers (green or blue color) may have a visible beam even in clean air due to Rayleigh scattering from air molecules, especially when viewed in moderately-to-dimly lit conditions. The intensity of such scattering increases when these beams are viewed from angles near the beam axis. Such pointers, particularly in the green-light output range, are used as astronomical-object pointers for teaching purposes, in the same general manner as flashlights.

I know what you mean Syco. Laser corrective surgery isn't exactly the oldest method in the book, I don't think the long-term effects have been properly documented yet either. There's a lot of maybe's and if's and but's surrounding it :\

Personally I think I'll wait some more years, when the laser surgery will be replaced by something cheaper and 100% reliable:
