http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/12/11/guillermo-del-toros-game-gets-a-name-insane/
It's a game designed by Guillermo Del Toro (click: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillermo_del_Toro ) and developed by Volition.
Del Toro is a gamer; in interviews he has mentioned games such as Pong, Asteroids, Galaga, Gadget, Cosmology of Kyoto, GTA IV, Medal of Honor Airborne, Call of Duty 4, Army of Two, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, BioShock, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, God of War, Sonic, Kirby, Flower, Left 4 Dead.
(Sources: http://www.next-gen.biz/features/hellboy-director-talks-gaming http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/06/08/guillermo-del-toro-flower-is-like-haiku-poetry/ http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/09/29/guillermo-del-toro-thq-game/ )
He made a deal with THQ to design 3 games, which are "going to be technically and narratively very interesting." The first one is called inSane and it'll be out in 2013.
Del Toro described the game as a horror game "but it's a very different type of horror game. It's not survival horror. It's truly a strange, geeky mix. It's a Lovecraftian thing. Let's leave it at that."
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/09/29/guillermo-del-toro-thq-game/
According to unconfirmed reports the 3 games are actually going to be a trilogy of Mass Effect styled RPG games, that will incorporate Lovecraftian elements and a plot which resolves around inter-dimensional travel. http://mmomfg.com/2010/11/10/source-del-toros-1110/
Considering that most of Volition's games have been released for the PC as well as consoles and THQ('s CEO?) recently said they're going to release all of their games on the PC as long as the product makes sense to be released on the PC platform, it's very possible we'll get to play this.
However the 2013 release date which Del Toro described as "the best case scenario" seems veeeeery far.

Could be interesting and it sounds promising so far, just read about it via Shacknews - http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/66804 - though no specifics about console, PC or both platforms are announced yet from what I know and altogether a lot of these details are a bit sparse though as you show the release date might be up to three years away.

Looks mysterious. Can't say anything at the moment or whether it looks promising or not only because there's nothing to discuss. We need gameplay videos or at least a trailer.

according to THQ they next games starting from 2011 will be heavily dependent on DLC and Digital DRM in the future , they new strategy is "Selling 20% on the disk the rest will be added later as dlc making games cheap starting at 30$ per game and DLC 10$"
with this they are mimicking the EA anti-piracy/anti-free_speech/anti-used_games_sales "10$ program and DLC heavily dependent titles with EA Digital Network Pass for Internet Service"

By the time it comes out all the gaming will be unified to one-button-controllers, bring it on.

That reveal was probably one of the strangest ones. The game is over 2 years away from the release at best. I guess they really needed the publicity...

http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/12/13/insane-confirmed-for-pc-will-be-first-in-trilogy/
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-12-13-guillermo-del-toros-insane-a-trilogy
The first game has been confirmed that it will be released on PC!
Additional info:
It's indeed a trilogy of games, Del Toro is credited as "external creative director" and he has the rights to turn the games into movies. Actually the press release mentions "potential transmedia projects" which probably means there are already plans to make movies based on the game's universe.
Del Toro began work with THQ on the first game 6 months ago and they finished writing the story of the game recently. THQ's core boss described the game as a "Horrific Adventure".
Del Toro said that with this series of games he wants "to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality"
Could the Mass Effect styled-RPG rumor be true?
Furthermore he said that each of the three games will have a 3 year development period which could mean that the last game of the trilogy will be released in 2019... the earliest!!
On the other hand I get the impression they want to try something unique and innovative instead of releasing yet another mediocre game as soon as possible.

Which was developed by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krome_Studios that never made anything good.. Their games have received ~50-60% scores.
On the other hand Volition have made some decent to very good, ~80%, games. Actually all three of their current-gen games, Saints Row 1&2 and Red Faction 3, were successful games.
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/saints-row 81%
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/saints-row-2 81%
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/red-faction-guerrilla 85%
Besides Del Toro is credited as "external creative director", I'm sure the dev team internally has a person with experience in developing video games, coordinating them.

Too bad saints row 1&2 blow and RFG blew also.
I really hate when people actually look at a games score and take it seriously haven't you realized these game reviewers get paid to review games? How do you think shit games like cod and tf2 get 9/10 all the time.
Facts & figures on obesity: Obesity is one the major health challenges worldwide and has become an epidemic over the last decades. Europe has the highest number of overweight and obese people in the world. The number of obese people has in fact tripled over the last 20 years in the Europe, according to the WHO. Today, over 130 million people are obese in Europe; approximately 10%-20% of men and 15%-25% of women. In addition, 400 million people are overweight in Europe.

So you're basically telling me that Konami didn't have enough money to pay the reviewers to boost the score of the Hellboy game? Because according to you all it takes is to pay ALL the reviewers and then your game gets high scores right?

The readers' score on IGN is 9.2 so YES people love it as much as "paid" reviewers. http://rr.xbox360.ign.com/rrobj/xbox360/object/14235013/

And if you take public opinion on how good games are you can just throw away every other game in existence and start playing WOW.
