Problem with the memory socket, i think
Asus states that mobo won't post if u place sticks in A2 and B2

http://support.asus.com/faq/asus-faq.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&no=89BB904F-C597-EE76-36CD-E0EDCD6CDD00

if i placeone stick in A2 and other stick in any other socket it won't post either, but on their website it says that it should post in A2 and A1, it doesn't, in my case at least, problem is i have only 2 sticks so i can't test all 4 sockets at once, anyone had any expirience with this? Should i rma mobo coz of defective socket or i'm simply doing something wrong

thnx in advance

Make/model of your RAM?
You should just use A1 and B1 really, that's the primary channel. According to the manual at least Smile

Two sticks of OCZ Gold XTC OCZ3G1333LV2G

atm i use A1 and B1 as a dual channel, but i want to be sure that first socket A2 is intact and i won't experience problems in the future upgrade, do i really have to buy another two sticks to find out if it works or not, that's kinda stupid Sad

also Due to Intel Lynnfield CPU integrated memory controller limitation, DIMM slots A1 AND B1 must be populated first, or your system may not boot up

thats a bit unclear, do one of them or both of them must be populated, coz i can boot with A1 and B2, but not with A2 and B1 Scratch Head

Just browse your mobo manual, till the part where is Memory QVL list. Then there should be list of all OCZ memories which are compatible with your mobo, also it shows can you put 4x modules or just 2x. ASUS boards can be very picky about different RAMs. My M4A89GTD-PRO didnt support 2x 2GB Ripjaws at all, but it would have supported 2x 1Gb Ripjaws with same frequency and latency -_-.

memory is fully supported in the manual, i checked first before buying all this stuff believe me
besides pc boots with sticks in every other socket except for the first one (A2) with any possible combination, guess i need another same 2 sticks to satisfy my curiosity, besides with i5 memory controller is on cpu so it's more like compatibility cpu with memory rather than ram+mobo

Are there any BIOS updates ? Memory compatibility is often improved in new revisions.

No, it's just a limitation of the way P55 chipsets work Smile

It should work fine if you test with a single chip though Mortibus. Ignore the Dual Channel and just test all 4 banks - if that works, it should work fine if you decide to upgrade and go for the full 4 chips Smile

Ok new problem, after a while my gigabyte gtx 460 1gb switched to x8 instead of x16, it still runs in 2.0 but performance bacame crappy, like constant lag in mafia 2 and horrid cpu performance in 3d mark vantage, before was 33k cpu now 16k, downclocking cpu or gpu didn't change anything, latest bios already applied, i wonder what could it be? i did tried 8800gt and it runs at pciex 16 2.0 and no lag in mafia but same crappy performance in 3dmark, mobo gone bad? i'm confused Surprised

Switching back to PCI-E x8 won't cause that lag and stuttering, that's something entirely different. Most likely something off with your RAM timings or something like that Smile

possbile but as i said i did tested 8800gt and it runs smoothly at x16 2.0

now i tested it in another pc with dual core 775 2gb ram and it still runs @x8 after i installed drivers it did run @ x16 but crashed with multiple speaker tons, dunno what that means, now it runs again @ x8 and has same lag as in my pc, my money is on the card getting fucked
never really got hotter than 60c and idled at 30c, vmemory got corrupted somehow? did tried bios update didn't helped either.

edit: ok i tested 3 other video cards and all of them operate @ x16 2.0 except for 460
