I've seen alot of usenet uploads recently that have been password protected and you have to go and take a survey to get a password to unlock. OMG I could just go ballistic. Anyone else encounter this?

basically look for comments at a nzb site where they can let you know, or, look for the name of an irc channel in the header (for example, "#a.b.teevee@EFNet"]... usually those are not password protected.
heh? People fill out those form? Just look around on the net. you find the passwd in 5 mins or so and if not, there is bruteforce crackers/dictionary crackers. Dont earn money for those wankers by filling those out...
