So I noticed few days ago on my new 24" Dell a smudge. So I get a cloth to clean it...

But it doesn't come off. So I look at it a bit better, and notice a cluster of dead pixels, and a small hole in my monitor! -.-"

So it seems that the pixels exploded :\

Now I need to go and take it to repair service, that works Mon-Fri from 8-16.

They should seriously have a better work hours, now I need to go before my work, be late for work, and I don't know when I'll be able to pick it up. I just hope they'll approve my warranty :\ Since I think 4 pixels are dead (Dell has like 5 dead pixel tolerance).

Oh and I borrowed old 19" lcd from a friend, that'll be fun to work on xD

I didn't know they could explode but searching around a bit it seems it could happen, never heard of it before but hopefully it won't take them too long to replace the panel or whatever is needed and you'll have it back in a few days. Smile

It's like a really small hole, you can feel it underneath your fingers. When the monitor is on it's classic dead pixel stuff

Omg dat IPS glow (?) Shocked
I had a similar problem with my new screen, but it looked like a black smudge inside the panel, maybe dirt or dust. I contacted the support and sent them photos, they wrote back and said a GLS guy with a new monitor is coming over and will take back my old one. How awesome is that Very Happy

Funny enough, its exactly in the same spot as dead pixel on my last monitor Razz

yeah I started to suspect as much, that would've been a little too extreme
its surprising Dell has such a high tolerance for dead pixels (for a premium company) but if you can even feel it they're gonna have to replace or repair it Laughing be glad you got at least a 19'', my temporary replacement monitor a few weeks ago was some tiny 15'' thingy with 1280x1024 resolution

it's not so much the size that sucks, it's the ratio. Everything is so cramped. Oh and the colors, god the colors are awful :S

and I have 2 websites that needs finishing :\ I hope it won't take them too long to give me new one or replace the panel (if they are going to do that)...

Son, you have a stuck pixel, not a dead one...

Yes, there is a good chance you can resurrect a stuck (sub)pixel.
jscreenfix is a good site, UDPixel also works, you can get it to make a 1x1 flashing pixel and move it right over the blue pixel. after a few hours it might get unstuck
I first thought I had two stuck pixels too, but then I noticed the black smudge was actually above the pixel grid. The GLS guy was here right now and I was quick enough to intercept him this time hehe. We swapped the screen, even got to keep all the cables, now I have two of everything. Just hooked it up and not a single pixel error and its running at 72hz like the old one. Count me happy Surprised

Had a stuck pixel on my psp for a few months, then it fixed itself for a couple of years, then stuck again.

many pixel errors are usually stuck pixels, truly dead pixels stay dead for good
a dead pixel is white on a TN panel and black on IPS and *VA panels.

They said it will take from 3 days to 1 month of waiting...

Nope, 100% safe, son...

It cycles colours until the pixel is able to change the colour normally.

Yeah if you just got it you should return it / RMA it asap but without a spare monitor to use in the meantime it could be a bit problematic.

I had that one until it died, but in like 5 years I had it it never had one dead pixel.

Dell is nice, but this is just not right. But the repair (or rather getting a new one) took 2 fucking weeks Sad I need it to work on, and the replacement is old 19" lcd with 4:3 ratio :\
