With the insane fucking gas prices over here: fun < sensible
Just sold the Omega. No more V6 :/

And im selling the avensis because it didn't pass 2 year vehicle inspection and it would actually be more expensive to fix it compared to what its worth. I have a feeling the place I visited 2 years ago was far from picky. All them errors Sad Anyways, selling is as a "project car". Will get some money at least...

So yeah, no idea what to buy now other than it will probably be a 1.6L that doesn't take much fuel. Most likely a station wagon, but not a must. And with a sensible car ill get a lot cheaper insurance than I did with the Omega.

And before mchart says I should buy a MPS3; its really not an option in this green country

Civic Type R then? Laughing
Or maybe one of those tiny hot hatches you have in Europe, like Fiesta ST, Clio RS... should be quite fun and still sensible.

if fuel price is an issue, get a 1.9 or 2.0 TDI VAG group car - 5-6L/100km city driving

Norway is actually quite diesel friendly, quite a bit cheaper than gasoline per liter. But politicians are considering making it more expensive soon because it wasn't as eco friendly as they thought 4 years ago Damn politics -.-

In Poland we had diesel cheaper up until a few years back. Now it's the same or even more expensive. But still - diesels use less per 100km, but are usually more expensive to buy...Really depends on how much you drive.

škodas seem quite efficient and other expenses shouldnt be that big either. At least, that's the case with newer ones. Probably same goes for skoda octavias from a few years ago.

That is the dumbest fucking comparison ever. Both of those cars have more powerful engines than whatever 2.0 TDI you have so that already skews that comparison. But even so, you misread what I said. When you say "pollution" you mean CO2 emissions, which is what the EuroX standards are about. The reason some governments -Dutch included- tax diesel so much higher, is because a diesel engine inherently produces what they call "fine particulates". Or to put it in simpler terms: really, really, really fine dust that consists of all kinds of chemical shit, one of which is sulfur. That is much more damaging to human health than CO2 emissions. They don't fuck up our ozone layer, they fuck us up instead. That's why some governments tax them more.

So yes, CO2 emissions on diesel engines are lower. Although, with the Euro5 and Euro6 the difference is getting smaller and smaller; petrol engines have made huge leaps in the last 15-20 years, whereas diesel engines haven't changed anywhere near as much. They still spit out the nasty crap.

I don't know about the euro accord, but I had the american one and it was flawless for 4 years (bought it used with 3 years already), sold it with zero problems (great for a 7 year old car). The V6 did use a lot of fuel though. But it's a great car, I'd recommend it.

It seems that the euro version is a bit more sporty even, which is nice.

What are the car prices in Norway compared to the rest of Europe (like Germany or Poland, where they seem pretty cheap)?

For several years now, diesel doesn't contain sulfur, also there are DPF filters for the other stuff..

Just a question, but have you thought about owning a car which can also drive with LPG ?
I have it and it halved my fuel costs.

Though, it is quite surprising that fuel price is an issue in Norway. (profit margins probably)
