3 weeks ago or something i went shopping and i bought a lot of crap and my bags were both pretty heavy. Takes me about 15 minutes to walk from the shop to my home, and when i reached the mailbox i couldn't fucking bend forward. My lower back was radiating and the only comfort was to sit down. It's still there, and i get that same pain only by walking now. I guess i should go to the doctor to check Razz

Usually keep moving is good to lose the pain, but if you're still having it now then visiting a doctor is the best you can do Smile

Hey Stormwolf,

I feel your pain! I had these kinds of problems regularly last year. They all went away when I switched to a new chair at work and started exercising. Not saying that's your problem, but you might want to look into it.

Aside from that, rest easy, it'll go away in a few days =/

Shouldn't tell yourself that. I've seen plenty of overweight people joggin here. It's not a marathon/competition, you just go out and run for a bit, at your own pace (having some music/podcast helps the experience). You'll feel a lot better (although at first you will feel like shit Laughing ) and soon enough you might enjoy it too.

Borrowing a cycle with my aunt. Haven't owned one in close to 20 years Laughing I think that'll be better! I'd love to have a rowing machine though, but that's too costly. And i'm not paying 53 Euro a month to exercise at a gym Razz

Cycling works too Smile But seriously, just move around a bit every day. Does wonders for the soul.

Now I should start following my own advice

Go onto google and find specific back muscle exercises (make sure you find something you'll like or you'll stop doing it).
Don't go cycling since it sounds like you know too little of it and most likely will use the wrong bike and you'll end up having more back problems (Most around here bike way too small bikes, or worse: mountainbikes).

If you want to start it off easy: 5 to 10 minutes exercises each day and if you want to do a bit more go get a Swim card and do that once a week.

Its not just the exercise, its also your food. First if all you need to get more conscious about what you eat and when, then it has to become an habit. Specific diets bring faster results but it wont last. Just try to eat high quality food and dont go below 250kcal below your daily kcal usage. If you do sports even eat according to it, or it will be too difficult.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

This already rules out the hernia possibility I think, as it should be the opposite on paper (I know this because I have one..and it ain't fixable until I visit a surgeon, which means never xD).
My bet is either muscle strain or outburst because of some latent inflammation, so nothing too serious but you gotta be careful and take care of it. Razz

Listen to the guys, as soon as you start feeling better, try to move them cheeks a lil' bit with proper exercises/activity Very Happy. And +1 for healthy food!
But if the pain doesn't want to go away, it's doctor time

Just please please, strengthen your back first before you go sporting. I'm deadly serious on that.

You could already do what couleur says and watch what you eat.

Indeed, good specific exercises should always have the precedence Razz
Jogging or swimming though are fine even if you're a "trainwreck", as long as you don't exaggerate of course and take it veery slowly at first.

Holy crap, what kind of gym is that?
The gym I went to was 10 euro's a month, unlimited access before 18:00 during weekdays, no time limit during the weekend (after 18:00 was 5 euro's extra per month).
Not that I lost even a single pound during my year there, but I probably shouldn't be telling you that. I just keep telling myself that muscles are heavier than fat.. Laughing

When it comes to losing weight, obvious physics is this: eat less, move more.

Healthy food. Lots of proteins: beans, cottage cheese, eggs, etc.

You don't have to start out with jogging. Walk at first, take the stairs, the usual shit. Little by little.

Wooooow there, that is not a way you should think when going to the gym, gaining weight is a good thing if you are gaining lean muscle mass (and gaining muscle is the best way to loose fat in the end), it's only a bad thing if you gained fat around the waist. It all depends on what you are doing at the gym, weights, bicycle, and what you are eating out of it.

The weight scale is not a good enough source of information when you are going scientific, you need the caliper tool to measure your body fat, combined with your weight you can calculate your lean muscle mass, you write all that down and update your progress as you go along and then you'll know if gaining weight is a good or a bad thing for you.

More to do how doctors work in Scandinavia than the healthcare. In Belgium I could just show up the same day at my doctor.

Healthcare in Norway is just semi-free. We get a frikort (freecard) now its automatically sendt to you by mail, but earilier you had to apply for it. Anyways, I think the limit is 1500 NOK (243 USD), above that everything from doctors apointments to surgery is free. Obiously you fill up those 1500 NOK instantly if you need surgery etc.
But this is only for state owned clinics and we have really long waiting for many quite common procedures. So even tho the majority of clinics are state owned some people prefer to go to private ones.

And yeah, that freecard is only for one year at a time. And I go to the doctor tops 2 times a year. And thats like 250 NOK a year And dental is NOT a part of this freecard thing... thats something that pisses off a lot of people. Makes me want to go to Estonia with 2-3 cavities. Even with the planeticket it would be worth it... if Estonian dentists are decent
